How about the YB-49. Remember seeing it in original War of the Worlds.

Was ahead of its time obviously

Of course Northrop did not give up

Me 262. First operational jet fighter. It could fly 120 mph faster than the Mustang.

Me 163 Komet. Only rocket powered fighter aircraft ever to be operational. The Me 262 is still my favorite though.

That has long been one of my favorite facts about WWII. The difference between American and Japanese industrial and logistical capabilities is mind blowing.

When my wife and I first moved to Alexandria we would go to England air force base at night and watch the a-10 warthogs take off and land on runway . Pretty darn cool . Now it's a stupid airport .

Congrats! You seem to be the only one so far who has any real knowledge of the aircraft of history.

Didn't think most folks even knew these existed. Saw some combat in Korea before being replaced by jet fighters.

Hey Darth, I have an unbuilt kit of this plane if you want it.

These are RAF Squadron 617 (Dambusters) taken during the Tirpitz raid on Nov 12 1944 during which they carried 12,000lb TallBoy bombs.
