DC-3

Built to fly over the Rocky Mountains on only one engine, and with super-overbuilt landing gear. Can land on 1/4 mile dirt, grass, or paved runway. Four ton cargo capacity.

Made from 1935 to 1943 - more than 300 DC-3's still in commercial operation.

B-36 Peacemaker

When you need to absolutely level something. Had a greater payload capacity than its successor, the B-52.

spitfire - The Battle of Britain was a historic fiction that was my favorite growing up (definitely one to get your kid if you want them to get into reading). Followed an RAF squadron through the defense from bombing raids, providing support for convoys, a couple attacks into Germany I think.
And the spitfires just dominated throughout the story.

My grandfather shot down a 262 from the tail of a B24
I have his flight journal
He also saw a V2 launch and detonate, full flight
Seneca Rucker is his name

Without a doubt, it’s the Corsair:

It's almost comical how much the B-36 dwarfs the B-29, one of the biggest bombers of WWII. Incidentally, you can see both at this fantastic air museum in Nebraska: SAC Museum

I understand and will be excited when you can share.

Can you give us any more details (plot/storyline) that wouldn’t compromise your work?

Edit:
I’m sure Darth has a better Corsair than mine. I prefer the balsa builds.

I think you did a damned good job on yours. I do have a F4U in my collection.

Thanks man. Your Corsair is the perfect navy. I haven’t made the leap to air brushing.

Thanks! That’s actually hand painted. I haven’t air brushed in probably 20 years.

IMO not even close. P-51 Long Range Fighter Escort. Think about this. The pilots flying this jewel had to escort the bombers over there, then engage swarms of attacking German defensive aircraft, then escort the American bombers back. Amazing airplane.

Those P-51 pilots had b**ls of steal.

Both of your collections are incredible. I'm particularly fond of the guillows balsa kits. Hobby Hut in the shopping center at Florida and Sherwood had them when I was a kid.

I use to air brush. It I like to take my time and enjoy the build so I went back to brush painting. Here’s some more examples.

Thanks. I’ve built all the Guillows 500 series. Nine planes, 50 hours or so on average.

Then I moved to the 900 series because they are designed to fly the best so I’ll start flying the Skyraider hopefully soon.

My father in law, who passed away a few years ago, loaded ordinance on USMC F4u corsairs in WWII. I have to pick that one.

Some honorable mentions are the B17, B52, F4 Phantom, the XB-70 Valkyrie and the SR71.

For those that are into such things, the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio is outstanding
