Our class went to Jazz Fest on a Thursday when I was in 4th grade

Our 5th grade “class trip” was to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. Got to take a charter bus from Birmingham and spent two night there. From what I can remember it was like a mini space camp experience.

The US Mint in NOLA.
They gave you a bag of shredded cash to take home.

I don't know if any of you went to Buchanan Elementary and had Mrs. Miller or Mrs. Edmonson for fifth grade, but every year they took their classes to Washington, D.C. for the week. I went in 1990. That was the best field trip ever. On the White House tour we saw Millie the Dog (Bush 41's pet).
Others I remember:
The Advocate in Baton Rouge. Saw the printing presses, gigantic ink wells, etc.
Port Hudson was a staple field trip. Loved stirring up the wasp nests in those towers and scaring the girls.
State Capitol Building was another staple. One year our class crossed paths with Buddy Roemer when he was Governor and he stopped and talked to us for a few minutes so that was neat.

Most fun was probably the Chicago trip in 7th grade. Also went to Williamsburg, Charlottesville, DC, Wilmington, and Philadelphia in 8th grade. Went on trips to Texas Ren Fest and Kennedy Space Center/Disneyworld in high school that were a lot of fun too.

I had two field trips to Bunny Bread. Gave us a loaf of bread also. Stickers were the best.
We still eat Bunny bread to this day. Indoctrinated you early back in the day in NOLA. Good marketing I guess.

1984 New Orleans Worlds Fair in 7th grade. The GOAT field trip. I remember we left the fair and walked over to bourbon street and peeked inside the door of Big Daddy's to watch the show, then a bouncer ran us off. Great memories

5th and 6th grade we took field trips to Angola. We learned about prison rape from trustees, no lie. They convinced us it wasn’t a place to go.
