There are several posts on here. I’ve got some feedback as well. Abita likely to have feedback on Logan v PVD. Ten days may be a lot unless you want to to stay on one of the islands for part of the trip. Or you can do a couple days in Boston on the front or the back.
My folks had a place in Harwich Port for 30+ years. We finally sold a couple years ago. Probably my favorite place to visit.
Partial to Harwich Port and Chatham. Prefer Nantucket over Martha’s Vineyard.
Yarmouth is not a bad place to stay as it’s a bit central. Can have some traffic though as it’s closer to Hyannis which is more commercial. I’d plan to spend time toward Chatham and the seashore. P-Town is nice too.
Depending on budget, Chatham Bars In is great. Chatham Wayside is cheaper. Other poster mentioned Truro. Mom always loved that place.
I will say this - Eagle Wing Inn in Eastham is pretty nice. Owner is great. Stayed there the week I had to move my mother to memory care in Louisiana. Enjoyed it and very well located.
For Martha’s Vineyard I prefer Edgartown. Nantucket, I’d rent a jeep and go to Sconset beach. Can also drive to the point and see the seals. That’s very cool but have to drive on the beach which is not the easiest.
For airports, I’ve done both. Since Big Dig I’ve preferred Boston for the nostalgia of it since I am from there. Better schedules and airfare too.
For food, Chatham Bars Inn. Veranda is nice. Wild Goose Tavern in Chatham. Brax in Harwich. Embers is good pizza but I’m old school and prefer George’s. Sundae School in Harwich Port or Dennisport. Best ice cream ever. O’er the Whale on Nantucket. Red Inn in Provincetown. Owner is from NOLA. For lobster roll, Chatham Fish Pier is the best per the wife (no pics). They have other stuff too but we always stop there.
National seashore is awesome. Whale watch out of P-town. For Nantucket, you can catch ferry out of Harwich Port. Hyannis will get you ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Car rental on the Vineyard creates major parking issues. Easier on Nantucket if you drive around. If you stay in town I’d pass on a rental. Partial to Murray’s Toggery Shop. Great clothes and I have several sets of Nantucket reds. Whale museum is cool too.
Understand May is a bit early as kids don’t get out of school until June. Some places may not be open every day or as late in the day as they normally are in the summer. Do some checking on that.
Great place to visit. Have a great time.

In 2023, I bought a 2-ton Ruud, 14 SEER. Entire system - coil, condenser, furnace. $10,500. Think pricing has increased from then though.
re: Going to Hawaii (Big Island) for a week. Recommendations?

Agree on Kona coffee. Wife brought home some Big Island Bees coffee. It’s Kona coffee with honey. We still order from there as she’s now hooked on it. They do tours there too though we did not do that.
We also did a sunset cruise on a catamaran. That was awesome. Seems the sun just sets different over there.

Agree on night snorkle with the manta rays. My kids did that a few years ago and loved it. Probably one of the best excursion type things they have ever done. Wife (no pics) and I were at a dinner and did not make it.
We stayed at the Fairmont Orchid. Place was legit. We went to dinner at the Mauna Lani resort. That place was amazing. Just a short ride from the Fairmont.
Enjoy the trip!

From an earlier post I made:
For dinner in Whitefish, I would go with Whitefish Lake Restaurant at the country club, Latitude 48 or Abruzzo. I’ve been to all three and they are all great. Abruzzo is Italian. Latitude has a cool bar downstairs. Both of those are downtown. The country club restaurant is just west of downtown but pretty close. I’d try to do reservations for whichever. Lodge at Whitefish Lake is just north of downtown. Really nice deck out back overlooking the lake. Blackstar and Craggy Range downtown for bar food for lunch.
For breakfast, Loula’s and Buffalo Cafe.
For bars, I’m partial to Great Northern. They have great bar food too. Herb & Omni is pretty nice and probably a bit more hip. There is a really great rooftop terrace there too.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.

Agree on Glacier Bay. That was very cool, in more ways than one. Lot of real nice pics and video. Peaceful. Sat on our balcony for much of it.
Funny story - so the Haven has its own observation deck and hot tubs. The wife (no pics) and I go up there after breakfast to check out Glacier Bay and hear the folks in the hot tub, at 10:00 a.m., telling the waiter to bring them another round of drinks every 15 minutes. Yeah, they were wearing LSU gear...go figure.

I did an Alaskan cruise from Seattle in 2022. Went on the NCL Bliss and really enjoyed it. Would do it again particularly if I could get a cabin in the Haven. There are other threads on here where I've got some comments along with others, but here's a copy and paste of my comments:
+++
The Haven is legit. We took an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle on the Norwegian Bliss. Our cabin was on the very back of the ship with a large balcony looking to the rear but it was considered part of the Haven. You pay more but in return you wait for almost nothing. You get escorted onto the ship early to the Haven lounge, have a private bar and dining area. We ate almost exclusively in the Haven and never had to put up with crowds or reservations. You also get escorted ahead of the rest when you get off the ship, and also for any shows onboard. There is reserved seating for shows. We had a concierge and butler. If there is anything you want all you do is ask.
I’ve sailed Royal Caribbean, NCL and Disney. The Haven in NCL is the best by far.

For excursions, the Juneau whale watch is legit and I would absolutely book this. The train from Skagway was my least favorite. There was some bridge that has been out of service for several months so the trip was cut short. Otherwise, there is not much to do in Skagway itself so maybe find an excursion out of town or go fishing. Victoria is nice but you don't get a lot of time. We didn't do an excursion but instead hired a cab to show us around. Our driver was excellent!
As for the ship, there is a wine bar and the sommelier was great. They have a few tasting sessions that are very well done. Shows on board are good too. We saw Jersey Boys and a band based on the Beatles.
If you have an opportunity to upgrade your cabin into The Haven I would highly recommend it. You have a butler and concierege that handle just about every need like reservations, snacks in your room, etc. There is also priority boarding and access to shows, etc. They will also escort you off the ship for excursions where you don't have to wait in lines, etc. The Haven has its own dining room, which is far better than the others. They have an observation lounge which is great too. We had an Aft-Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony and while it is not located within The Haven, you get Haven privileges and services. I don't know that we would do another NCL without The Haven.
There is a travel agency called Harr Travel that has put out a bunch of videos online. There are tours of the Bliss, tours of certain room categories, etc. Might be worth watching before you go. I found them very helpful. A simple google search will take you to whatever you are looking for.

Wife loves our Breville Barista Touch. No more Starbucks. We are way ahead now money wise even though this machine is not inexpensive.
She also found some Kona coffee that she loves while in Hawaii and we get some shipped every few months. Still cheaper than Starbucks. Also like the flexibility and options with this machine.

Headed down Sunday for Lenny Kravitz. Any intel on how much rain they had in NO and whether it’s slushy? Thought it was supposed to rain between today and yesterday.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Agree with getting audio. My brother in law, a former news anchor, did an interview with our dad about his life. Played during his visitation. Priceless. Mother was too far around the bend by then…. Been having to get family history from an uncle.
Lot of good comments here. Maybe make a list of the highlights from this thread and get with siblings to discuss.

We consulted a lawyer on elder care stuff even though me and a sibling are both lawyers. We just don’t do that type of work and parents lived out of state. Helps to try to get some pointers well in advance.
That said, you seem to have a lot already ironed out. Already hard enough to deal with.

Went through this personally. Mother had dementia and went to a facility. Dad then died suddenly a few weeks later. Dad had all relevant info. Mother could not help in this regard.
As early as possible, I’d consider working with an elder care lawyer for a variety of issues, long term care, assisted living, etc. Can be difficult if someone has to go to a facility. Private pay is expensive. State facilities have ability to claw back assets. Legal advice early is the way to go.
Practically, get a list for every account, whether cell phone, cable, security system, bank, retirement, insurance, whatever, etc. Get all account numbers and access info. You’ll need it. This may have been one of the biggest challenges for us. Access to their computers and emails likely helpful. We did not have this and were at huge disadvantage when trying to manage accounts.
As for personal property, siblings and I tried to manage while they were alive but they were not interested. Tough situation. We then did a major purge when we had too. Wish we had more time as some things likely were disposed of that we wish we still had.
Good luck.
