The seat was 22” wide AND the guy got stuck in it and had to get a crane to get him out. I could understand more if they had to get a couple guys to help him out if the seat but he had to have mechanical help. How do you get so stuck in a seat that you need mechanical help out?

.

You can be 6’2 225 and 5”4 225 and take up those seats in vastly different ways.

I'm not sure if this was a seat issue as the arm rests can be removed which the ground crew most likely did. It may have been the passenger couldn't physically lift his big arse out of the seat on his own without major assistance after sitting for an extended time.
Just another day in the airline business.

I was on a flight yesterday into MSY with a massive lady right across the aisle from me. It was funny that she had the armrest between her aisle seat and the middle seat up because she was so big and the guy that came to sit in the middle seat just happened to be this rail thin dude that could fit and apparently didn't mind her being in 25% of his seat.

The best part of the flight was when she dropped her cookies (Biscoff!) on the floor in the aisle. She made a half-arse attempt to get them and then reached over and poked me and pointed at them. I put my foot on them and slid them over to her but she still couldn't reach down to the floor to pick them up and poked me again. My brain said to tell her "Maybe you don't need those..." but I thought better of it and handed them to her.

You don’t get that fat by just regular eating. Gluttony must win.

They already do that. It’s called first class.

In his case, he wasn't flying First Class. He was flying Fat Class, unfortunately, he was too fat for even Fat Class.

Next time he flies they should put him in a crate and ship him with the luggage in Cargo.

A decade ago Samoa Airways went to "pay what you weigh" ticketing. They weigh you and your baggage and that's what you pay. Their defense?

A kilo is a kilo is a kilo. It affects the amount of seats that can be sold, the amount of cargo that can be carried, and the amount of fuel needed.

Science and stuff.

The passenger was seated in 1A, a spacious first-class seat with 78 inches of legroom and a seat width of 22 inches, according to Seat Guru.

I’m fat af and I can sit comfortably in a 22” wide airplane seat. Especially if the armrest is retractable.

If XXL seats were a thing I’d pay more just to keep some jack leg from rubbing shoulders with me.

If he couldn't get out, how did he get in?

When you have to be lifted out of a plane with a crane , you shouldn’t be flying.

I used to work for a GOM helo operator.
There was one guy who was so fat we had to use a bird that had a specially reinforced door for him to climb into.

1st class seats are designed a little different. The seat is actually a U shaped “cubby” with tall sides. I’m assuming he wedged himself into it and once in, there was no escape.

I was flying out of Vegas one time and had an aisle seat. When I got to my seat there was a huge man sitting next to me (with an Arkansas Razorback shirt on) - he was overflowing into my seat. I tried to take my seat but I could feel all his fat up against me and there was a massive amount of heat coming off him. I asked to be moved. Thankfully, the flight attendant found me another seat and I was able to enjoy my flight to Dallas.

They should have left him to die, dug a hole next to the trailer and used a back hoe to push him and the trailer into the hole and cover it up with dirt.

frick all that. Take away his means of communication and just leave. Nobody will miss him.
