There was outrage and if I remember correctly the guilty were promptly arrested and properly prosecuted.

That local PD is about to get fricked up the arse by the Feds, or at least they should.
First, the Feds prosecute "hate crimes". With Barr at the helm who the frick knows what'll happen but, for all intents and purposes, this should absolutely be prosecuted as a hate crime.
Secondly, the local PD and county covered this up until a defense attorney who had seen the video but is not officially representing anyone in the case, called shenanigans and released it to the public, knowing that damn well there was a "good ole boy" cover-up taking place.
A lot of people should be facing some very stiff consequences for how all of this went down and the Feds have prosecutorial power over every bit of it if they so choose.

If this happened to your son, brother or friend and it took 2 months to get an arrest when the video exited the whole time, you would be losing your fricking mind.

What does a pandemic have to do with anything? You said there was no outrage but there was. The funny thing is that outrage goes away quickly when things work properly and arrests are made and the guilty are prosecuted.
