I go by my older brother's burial site pretty often. He died 4 years ago this week. I don't stay very long most of the time but I still ride by there at least once a week.

He's buried next to my Dad that passed away 6 months before he did.

Do any of you do this on a regular basis?

I visit some of my deceased family members’ grave sites at least once or twice a year.

I don’t feel much by doing so, tbh.

Never. I choose to remember their memory not a place in the ground. Most of my family donates their body so luckily there isn't a spot for them.

To each their own though.

I visit my grandfather on my moms side. I think about him often. Man’s man.

I'm not criticizing or disagreeing with you or anybody else, bc we all grieve differently and feel differently about these things...

But I just don't see the point in going to the gravesite. I remember them much more when I hear a certain song or eat something that reminds me of times with them, etc.

I'll gladly go with the wife or my mom if they want me to, but I'm not really getting anything from it

I have been to my Grandparents gravesite once since my grandfather died in 1987. A few years ago my high school track coach passed away and me and my brother visited. I knew exactly were it was. They are about 5 plots and I think one row from Pete Maravich.

Just recently I was in New Orleans and visited my 7th times Great Grandfathers grave. He was the guy named Henri Ettienne Plauchier who came over from Southern France and changed the spelling of his last name to Plauché.

It was pretty cool. His son was Lieutenant Governor.

Every single time we're back home I visit my family's plots as well as my Father in law's.

As you ask this I'm in tears. I hate to sound like a drama queen but I visited the cemetery today. It just hit me that I wish we locked down everything until we found a cure for cancer and other things. We are locked up over malfeasance from China. All 3 died from cancer

One of my best friends passed away back in 2011. I still visit his grave site every other month. Sometimes more. A lot of family and friends get together there since it's not too far away from all of us.

Barely ever. We have a family plot in the Ponchatoula cemetery. My Mom who passed when I was 6 in 1974 and my twin brother who died in 1968 a few days after we were born are buried. My Dad took me and my Brother a few times after she passed to the grave site but we became so upset that just quit taking us. I went so long without visiting it that I couldn't remember the exact spot where the plot was and had to hunt for it even though I had a general idea when I went recently. The way I look at it my family members are not there, just the remains of their bodies. I can visit with them and talk to them anytime I want without going to the grave yard. But that is just me, there is no right or wrong answer here. Everyone deals with death in different and their own ways.

I’m 43 and I’ve only ever visited a grave site of a loved one when I'm attending another funeral at the same cemetery a loved one is buried in.

Not meant to be disrespectful to them. Just don’t see much point in visiting cemeteries. I keep their memories alive in the way I live my life and through photos and stories — not a gravesite.

But that’s just me —However, I respect how anyone chooses to mourn or honor a loved one. It’s a personal thing.

Never once been back to my brother's since the funeral in2008. I am not sure what the point is, just to be sad and further fuel my panic attacks and midlife crisis?

ETA I will have to revisit eventually because my mom's ashes are to be buried with him, she died late March when everything locked down so she is still in a box in my dad's living room until shite opens back up.

I go a few times a year to my little sisters plot, and I’ve been to my grandfathers once. Lost her three years ago on Saturday, and Pawpaw passed this last January.

Understand it’s not for everyone, but gives me a good reset on priorities and reflections and such.

I once read that you should make major life decisions in a cemetery. I started doing this and it’s pretty amazing the amount of clarity you get when making tough decisions.

You don’t always have to go to Facebook to get Facebook quality advice.

Whenever I'm back in BTR, I try to make time to visit my parents grave site. As a kid, I remember my dad cleaning up the area around his parents grave site. Maybe that's just one of the reasons I do it as well.

I feel bad for those little rural cemeteries that end up right against roads or about to fall into the nasty canal. That is one of the main reasons I never want to be buried. 50 years from now, your body is going to be run over by Waste Management trucks going through a new neighborhood or your eternal "view" is a tattoo strip mall.

We still have Decoration every year, and I may rarely stop by if I'm in a mood.
