I was at the airport recently and there was a guy who was very clearly a basketball player (he was at least 6'10). I think he was a pro player (or at least was at some point) because I recognized his face. I just couldn't put a name to the face. He was being pushed in a wheelchair even though he didn't look disabled in any way. I first noticed him because the bozo that was pushing him pushed the player's foot into my leg, which knocked his slipper off. Of course, he looked at me like it was somehow my fault for knocking his slipper off by literally sitting in a chair doing nothing.

Anyway, I assumed he had some sort of leg injury necessitating a wheelchair until....I saw him get out of the wheelchair and walk around the airport just fine.

There is some heavy white-knighting in that Reddit thread.

"Maybe they all have a genetic condition"

"Maybe they aren't related and just met when they were getting their wheelchairs?"

"Maybe they are all connected to a charity that helps the disabled"

I've seen a dude park in a handicap spot in front of a gym, proceed to do leg day including barbell squats, and drive off.

They are either faking being handicapped. Or driving their mama's car with her handicap tag, and taking advantage of the benefit.

Not sure which is worse.

Airlines need FoLo. First on Last off. If you need special assistance to get on the plane then you need to wait for everyone to get off the plane. This way you get the special assistance you need.

It’s about safety.

I don’t really understand why anybody wants to be the first on the flight. I want to be the last on the flight, so I can spend as little time on the flight as possible.

I can't deal with them because they are dregs on society, and no one should be a dreg on society. We are no longer a civilized society.

Because some a-holes with those oversized bags with wheels they're trying to squeeze into the overhead and having to turn them sideways to fit take up all the space. Us others with normal sized duffle style bags then have no room. If you get on a bit earlier, you can guarantee your bag will have a spot.

If any of them were actually disabled, you would think at least ONE of them might actually have their own personal wheelchair.

This. On most airlines, you're going to be spending the same amount of time crammed into that spam can, whether you're in the front or the back.

Jet Blue does it right. They board the people in the back first.

Wife leg paralyzed with polio, and I traveled for 20 years internationally. First on was a help in getting to a seat without holding up a bunch of people. We always were last off to allow the crowd to push past.
