I haven’t shaved since 2010 and will likely never shave again. Hang in there a bit longer. It’s well worth it....

Beard conditioner once every few days and beard oil every day immediately after shower while it's still at maximum moisture. Your skin hurts because dried out. Our skin produces oil but not enough to protect our skin and our beard.

Try some different beard oils out because some may contain ingredients that irritate your skin. Burlington is a good place to find oils on clearance ($4-5 each) so you can experiment and find out what works for you.

Also shave it up closer to your jaw line while still hiding neck fat.
Do not do this. You'll look like you have a chinstrap holding back your chubby neck regardless. That cannot be hidden. it highlights it. I've never seen this look good, even on skinny guys. An inch to inch and a half under jawline but no down the neck looks better.

I am 53 and am 2.5 weeks into a beard -- the farthest I have ever gone without shaving. Was gonna try to avoid shaving all the way through Lent. But it hurts, man. Like it's literally physically painful. Some guys basically grow pubic hair on their face, but my face feels like a grill brush.

Your T levels must be at soy levels...

Every week I have to trim my beard 3mm because it grows back like I spray miracle grow on my face.

I've had a full (but neatly trimmed) beard since 1997. I don't even remember what the the "growing-it-out" phase feels like anymore.

1. Do not wash your beard with the same shampoo/ conditioner that you use on your head. Get some designed for facial hair.

2. Use beard oil or balm every day. I prefer balm from Smoky Mountain Beard Co. but there are tons of choices out there.

ETA: A little goes a long way with the beard oil. Seriously, just a few drops is all you need.

frick that. I'm sporting it like God intended. I'm 41 now and don't really give a shite if it's grey. My wife likes it actually

This. I'm 57. My hair has almost no gray, but my beard is S&P. Not going to dye it. And if I start losing my hair, there won't be any damn comb-over. I'm going to the Kojak look.

All of my facial hair is salt and pepper grey now.

I was salt and pepper in my late 30's (head and beard).

I'm mostly just salt now.

When I retire I plan to go full Gandalf.

Never understood the logical reason to have facial hair in southern Louisiana other than for looks.

What the F is the point of growing hair on your face when its over 85 degrees for most of the year??

I see your point, but its more natural to have hair on your head than your face? Just seems like a shite load of unnecessary matter that retains heat when it could easily be removed

Having a goatee in 2019 is the equivalent to having the creeper stash in the 90s.
