I think facebook hasn't advanced or regressed society at all. It has only highlighted our ignorance and narcissism that was there all along. What used to hide only within your parent's AOL email account is now in full view of all your friends and family.

Like many advancements in tech, it has some amazing qualities that are outshined by assisting in the diminishing of human social interaction, which we crave as social animals. Facebook is like a cheap facsimile of real human interaction, thus it is fertile ground for people to become cheap facsimiles of themselves, where tact and shame go by the wayside in favor of booms and moments.
It could be awesome but it has been buttfricked into the perverted mess we see today.

Social media is a huge net negative. I mean seriously, what good has come from it? I can’t think of anything except for a small number of isolated positives that have happened to individuals, which is few and far between.
