Just a heads up. You and her employee are tickling the dragon. The IRS will pick up on that thru their computer system and come down on all. Not a good idea. I have had clients gets fancy with this and outsmarted themselves.

Isn't it great when people blurt out infrastructure nonsense. I live in Louisiana. What fricking infrastructure. We see no increased quality of life from the insane amount of taxes we pay. Way too many takers.

I'm with ya. Some people here are the "tax the man behind the tree" type.
Business owners match employee taxes (whether profit or not), pay healthcare (used to be insurance), pay the internet bill the employees use to post on TD before they pay themselves. Then get labeled the bad guy.
Today I got a $5k penalty bill from the IRS for just filing one late return. (Employees don't understand about biweekly 941 payments or quartly filings).
One late return, even though the taxes were paid on time thru EFTPS. The late return was last October 2016 during the flood when, well, let's just say I had my hands full..too full to send in a piece of fkin paper.
So, don't let SOME of those in the OT get to you..you survived a butt-reaming by the IRS, they are nothing.

Trust me. I know. Im pissed. It's a little more complicated though. Officially, she's employed by one doctor but reports to another doctor who is a partner at the same hospital. When she was working overtime, it apparently was for the doctor she reports to. Said doctor paid her with 1099s. She's scheduled a meeting with them to talk about it. They did not explain to her what was going on or how that worked.

It sucks. We did this last year. But double the amount. And this was after $50K had already come out through our paychecks.
I'm still waiting to see what we are going to get for all that money we paid in federal taxes last year.
No way the Federal Government will disappoint me.

I bought 2 new frikken Case-IH tractors last year and he set up depreciation schedules and looked at Everything. Fukkin IRS, State taxes, employee taxes/benefits, real estate taxes. Yeah, fair share my arse!

You do realize that most European countries' taxes make American taxes look paltry?
Try something around 49% tax rate in Germany, for example.

As a business owner I'm sure you're aware of what your governor is proposing
quote:
Louisiana Legislative Update
Business in Governor's cross hairs this Legislative Session
As the 2017 Louisiana Legislative Session opened last Monday, Governor John Bel Edwards told legislators his plan to lower individual tax rates for 90 percent of the state's filers, but this and other changes would be shifted to businesses and industry. The governor used the all too familiar "fair share" agreement and cited the use of roads and bridges and the cost to educate our employees in schools and universities.
The Governor cited statistics that were rebutted by national reports that state employers in the state pay 41 percent of all state taxes and 59 percent of local taxes, representing almost half of all taxes collected in Louisiana. Those numbers do not include property, franchise, inventory and excise taxes
Outlined below is the Governor's plan, which differs greatly from the bipartisan recommendations.
• Enact a commercial activity tax for 80,000 C-corps, applied in two general ways:
o A minimum commercial activity tax (MCAT) of $250-$750 for each business entity with $1.5 million or less in gross receipts.
o A standard commercial activity tax (CAT) would apply to all other businesses equal to 35 percent of their gross receipts.
The latter is the cornerstone of the Governor's macro plan to address the $440 million budget deficit for the July 1, 2017 fiscal year. Unfortunately we haven't seen the final plan, which prior to this communication, was considering allowing restaurants/grocers, etc. to deduct their cost of goods from revenue to calculate their tax level.
Also included in the Governor's wish list is to remove one penny from the state's 5-cent sales tax, which expires July 2018, and redistribute the 4 percent to various services not included in the current sales tax structure; hold back 2 percent of the forecasted revenue that the state would be restricted from spending to avoid future midyear budget cuts and give 90 percent of individual filers an income tax cut.

Are you not a corporation?
I know that you still have quarterly taxes, but there are ways to protect yourself from being taxed too much and having to pay on your personal side in April
Never mind. I read thru the thread. I have a buddy who is an anesthesiologist who has the same problem. But he has some rentals that he can claim "losses" on every year that helps him out with the feds
