This same thread posted 50 times every April is like a teacher bitching about summer ending.

A lot of us paid a ton of taxes. We all knew this was coming. Stop being an attention whore. Or post your return and get it over with.

You pay higher than 49% to the federal government?

If you were in the federally declared disaster area, all due dates were extended (unless the 941 in question was filed even after this? I'd request abatement regardless as I'm sure you are).

That's what I was. But I cut myself a weekly paycheck as well as my wife and claimed 2. It took the sting out of April.

I'd rather deal with the IRS over LDR any day. I think you have a good shot, $5k is ridiculous.

I pay the government my estimated taxes 4 times a year, and in April that means I get double teamed. Airtight

I made a good living working for a large corporation and got hammered by taxes. Paid every penny I could possibly pay. Now, I am self employed and pay a fraction of those taxes. Tons of wrote offs, vehicle through the company, MV ins and health care ins through company, fuel, meals, etc.etc...and I can set my salary according to how much money I need and not how much I can make.

Sounds like your CPA is the one fricking you.

I think that is great! Honestly.

But, every business owner is in more unique positions and go thru ups and downs unlike many employees when it comes to liabilities.

Are you a 1 or 2 man show? How many employees do you have to feed before yourself? This is very important. A husband and wife team can kill it..especially if they "live through the company" ;)

Small company, only 10 employees including my wife of course. You are right, people should take advantage of the system. F taxes and beat the with their own rules.

Business owners match employee taxes (whether profit or not), pay healthcare (used to be insurance), pay the internet bill the employees use to post on TD before they pay themselves. Then get labeled the bad guy.
That's because as a rich business owner you get to stash away millions in tax free money because of loopholes that Bush passed for the rich.

The government built your business. You didn't build that. Other people did.
