Push the notion that intelligent life for us to contact off to the side.

How would you react or feel if we were given irrefutable proof that intelligent life did exit outside of our little myopic existence?

I would hope that someday intelligent life makes it’s way to Earth too.

I, for one, would welcome our new alien overlords.

If the universe is as big as the smart folks think it is, there’s no way wee are the only developed beings out there.

Some other world has to also be burdened by their version of DavidTheGnome.

I’d make a stout whiskey drink and watch football tomorrow.

It would definitely be a paradigm shift. Think if they came down and parked a fleet of spacecraft in the middle of Kansas. Stepped out, and started setting up a little village. What would we do? Can you imagine when real life news reports that aliens have landed in Kansas? It would be insane. Would we send out a caravan of politicians and military officers to have a meet and greet? How long would we just watch them before we acted? Life would never be the same.

Most of the religious people I know expect there to be life outside of our realm.

Isn't God over the universe? Wouldn't God be over them, too?

Who knows. He may send them to frick us up someday.

Did Jesus visit each planet and die for their sins too?

My biggest question would be if they could use both the women’s and men’s restroom

Its terrifying if there is life out there, and equally terrifying if we are truly all alone.

I pretty much already assume we're not alone in the universe, so I wouldn't be surprised or shocked in the least.

Whether they came in peace or for war, we couldn't do much of anything about it. I think we probably have some secret propulsion tech in the works, but we won't be ready to keep up with any sentient beings that can travel the galaxy for a LONG time.

The best we can do is defend earth within it's atmosphere, but it would be pretty hopeless. Give the Space Force 100 years or so and we'll have FTL capabilities. I wish I could live to see those days.

Depends on how intelligent. Our equal or less? Meh. Significantly more advanced/intelligent? Scared shitless.

I used to be one of those people that thought it would be awesome when I was a kid. Then, in a conversation at the dinner table once, my father looked at me strait faced and said “son, if there is intelligent life out there, you better pray that we find them before they find us”. That made me think. Now whenever I think about stuff like that, it makes sense. If aliens visit us and we have contact with them, that’s not good for human kind. It would mean that they are FAR more advanced than we can even imagine. That’s absolutley frightening when you stop and really think about it.

Cool. Can they help us with any of our issues? If not, do they want to start an interstellar football league?

Seth is looking for a job, if they do.
