Ok, so I've recently been introduced to a guy that I'm pretty sure is lying his arse off about his military experiences. He is about 50 years old, decent shape for an older guy so my doubts don't stem from physical features. I've already caught him lying about work and women 'achievements' so I know he'll embellish events to say the least. What grinds my gears is that this dude makes it sounds like he's Chris Kyle. Confirmed 39 kills, secret missions, outrageous situations that he'll revert to 'I don't want to talk about it' when pressed for details, etc. Tonight, he stood up in front of a small group and talked about how he killed his first human at 18 years old and the memory and pain still haunt him blah, blah, blah. He introduces himself to new people as 'Gunny" because supposedly that's what he's been called all these years. I refuse to call him that but whatever...

So, how can I prove this guy to be a fraud? Is there a website or anything that has enlistment dates or awards or anything like that? Other than asking where he went to boot camp and shite like that, what can I do to positively out him?

I have to do something to end this charade and call bullshite on this jackass.

What branch was he in? There are questions that each branch should be able to answer that aren’t common knowledge that you could ask him.

Had a friend call out a guy a few weeks back — saw the stolen valor guy in the news after he stabbed someone for calling him out yesterday.

Maybe tread lightly.

Check his stories against the plot lines of NCIS episodes. You may find some similarities.

Ask him if he knows the quart of blood technique.

I believe he was in the military, I just don’t think he’s the Rambo he says he is.

If he’s announcing himself as “gunny” then he was a gunnery sgt in the marine corp, or pretending to be. Most guys who have seen serious combat don’t really talk about it at all. Most of my military buddies and myself usually just talk about all the funny stories and dumb shite we did during our time in.

That’s what I’m saying. frick this dude. He doesn’t deserve the honor and recognition if he didn’t earn it.

That’s been my experience too. I have a friend that was a legit Seal and he doesn’t ever talk about. He’s been out the military for about 15 years because of an injury on a motorcycle accident and you’d never know it unless you knew him from back then.

My cousin was marine recon for 8 years in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He only talks about the boring times to people who ask questions.
