Certainly, diets have gotten worse and activity has declined but could some of the rise of obesity in the U.S. be linked to the decline in smoking? Nicotine is an appetite suppressant.

I’d attribute it more to technology allowing people to make little or no effort to get whatever it is they want, while also allowing food of any type and kind to be delivered to their door.

Couple that with the growing “be proud and accept who you are” and also lazy, terrible parenting; and it’s no wonder obesity has skyrocketed.

Never understood the whole "appetite suppressant" bullshite. If anything, I ate more when I smoked. Reason, the best cigarette was always after a good meal.

Everyone goes to a “coffee” shop and starts their day w a 2000 calorie milk shake disguised as Frappuccino, mochiato something or other. Result; obesity.

No, it's mostly the explosion of sugar and hatred of fats.

Complacency and convenience are the biggest triggers for obesity, in my opinion. It’s so easy to order an extra large pizza to feed everyone rather than cook a wholesome meal. So, people stop caring. And this whole “fat shaming” stigma thing that gives people an excuse for their terrible lifestyle.

As technology increases, so does average waist size. Before amazon, people had to go walk around a mall for 2 hours to find what they wanted.
