Felt it in Katy (Cinco Ranch). Woke up. Wandered what was that. Looked at my phone, it was 4:25 AM.

Fair point.
But single house fires release toxic fumes.
There’re huge chunks of fiber glass laying in yards 5 miles away (understandably, that’s not the same as toxic fumes).

Color me skeptical, that’s all.
But I yell at clouds, so I should probably just.take HFD’s word for it.

This is the same Harris County that said there were no air quality problems with the explosion near baytown last year. I would trust a word that they say.

Woke up around that time, but had no idea why. Went right back to sleep.

I work about 4 miles away from the place. Sounded like it happened right outside the door.

The previous quote stated that it was a propylene tank that exploded.

No way this was just a tank exploding...has all the hallmarks of a gas line explosion.

ETA: That being said, I could be very wrong...curious to see what the investigation reveals.

Damn, I'm right in the middle of the blue spot on the map in southern Louisiana, and I don't even have access to natural gas at my house.

Good thing about explosions is that most of the hydrocarbons are burned into CO2 and water, hence there wouldn't be hazardous atmospheric conditions.

I’m east of West Lake Houston, but I was already awake and the house was quiet. Interestingly, I was in Kenner when the Norco cat cracker blew and didn’t hear or feel it, and was also about one mile away from the Pan Am plane crash in 1982 and did not hear or feel it. This explosion was loud and obviously dispersed quite a bit of energy.

Kingwood was developed when O&G was leaving Louisiana, so plenty of those folks landed here, and not just from Nola. We came after Katrina and observed more LSU flags then UT, A&M, and OU in our neighborhood.

For all the shite the Katrina folks get for the crime rate spike after the storm. The heights area got a lot of white collar professional that drove the gentrifications of that area after 05

My brother just moved off Kingwood Dr. east of W Lake Houston. My house warming/Christmas gift was a LSU flag to fly. I think he is the third one with a flag on his street.

Let’s have an explosion gathering at Three Bs and have a beer over the Lake Conroe controversy.
