You're 2 exits down from me.

I slept right through it in Spring Branch but my dogs ended up on my bed somehow

Crazy those houses are that close to a facility that uses that flammable of a gas.

Sometimes, zoning is a good thing.

...and I bet you contorted your body to accommodate both of ‘em .

Again, if you were that close, you were deep in REM-land.
We would’ve experienced the same thing, and it felt like what I would imagine a volcano blowing its top to feel like; and it sounded like a bomb detonating.

I’m so glad it wasn’t worse.

Now we all just need to avoid the flu ....

I was an EMT as an undergrad at A&M.
As is the case with all first responders, we regularly held mock disaster and triage training drills.

In College Station—and few who aren’t first responders and city officials even think about this—the biggest fear for which they plan isn’t a mass shooting or terrorist attack; it’s the train (which runs smack dab through the middle of campus several times a day, right between Kyle Field, Blue Bell Park, and Reed Arena) derailing, with a full Kyle Field or other big event taking place.

If people knew the stuff that was being transferred in those train cars on the reg, they’d never leave their houses for that side of town again.

If you know your hazardous placards you can tell, although they are often stenciled right on the car what they carry. Most hazardous cars are captive to one commodity.

Anhydrous Ammonia is really common. 100+ tons of it per car.

Sounds like you’re very familiar with said goings on.
My knowledge on the subject is extremely superficial; but it’s knowledge I wish I didn’t have.
Ignorance can definitely be bliss.

They actually allow trains to roll through campus on football game days?

Not the entire time (during FB games), but it happens.
And on game day mornings/evenings, while thousands are tailgating (and throughout game weekends)?
Heck yeah they do.

The next time you’re watching an Aggie Baseball game on TV (play along, mon frere), count how many times per game the trains barrel through the outfield.
It used to be 13 mins past every hour.
IOW ... often.

Yea...they allow them during baseball games over here too. But I've never seen one on football game days.

I didn’t realize y’all had tracks on your campus too.

Students have a love/hate relationship with the trains in B/CS.
Without fail: If you’re late for class on east campus and have to cross the tracks to get to west campus ... choo-choo.

Interstate commerce.

There is/was a big pro golf tournament every year on the north side of the Twin Cities that we ran through. Had a temporary whistle ban through that area.
