Might live or going to a practice that's too far away to make sense in going home only for 15 mins. That's my only guess.

If they are going straight home. I have zero idea why.

A few reasons. I sometimes got off work at 2 so I would sit in the car and read. Or was running errands and finished up early.

I am one of these people. I usually get in line around 2pm. Dismissal at 3p. But I work from home and use that hour as my daily outing/lunch break.

At 3:15 there's still 2 lines about a quarter mile long. I was "late" yesterday and noticed that. So getting here at 3 would put you still waiting 30+ min...

I just make my kids wait for 25-30 minutes after school until the traffic clears out. I pull right up and there he is waiting. In and out in 10 seconds.

Is there any preventing kids from walking a block over from the school and saving the parents an hour in waiting in line? I've never been in one of these absurd lines but always see them.

I have a friend who is a SAHM that does this. I shed asked her why once and she said she , and I quote, "can't let that bitch in the white Acura MDX get in front of me". She was dead serious too

Only time I ever showed up early is because it was more time to drive home and back to the school than it would have been to just go to the school.

Was about 20 minutes early and first in line.

I’ve done it before. I can jam outward and get a better place in line. Sometimes there will be a cute mom in a Ferrari or Aston Martin.

FIL pitched in when our kids were young. He was retired, got in line an hour early and just sat there reading the newspaper each day.
I see lots of grandparents picking up kids at our school.

I go late so I don’t have to wait long.

Occasionally I am there early when it makes no sense to driver home then back.

We live in the age of helicopter parents. Most of these people would drop the kids off and never leave campus if they didn’t have other obligations.

Society is quickly transitioning away from helicopter parents to one of lawn mower parents. A helicopter hovers above with a watchful eye. A lawnmower is close to the ground fricking shite up.
