Deanos isn’t very good, but it’s way fricking better than FDL. And you basically have to torture me to say nice things about Lafayette

FdL and Pastime wouldn’t make it in BR if they were brand new. Both places live on nostalgia alone.

I used to work for Donald Link in several of his restaurants. Cochon is Cajun, but it’s sophisticated Cajun. And as much as people love to bash BR for its lack of culture, Lafayette is wayyy down the spectrum when it comes to any sort of sophisticated dining—of course it didn’t make it.

Also, Donald’s a great chef but he isn’t much of a leader…he’s shockingly shy for a well known chef. It makes sense to me that he couldn’t keep a handle on any of his out-of-town ventures.

Was it location?

At the time I think so. Isn’t the Cow restaurant or whatever there now? That was good food, too.

The reason why it didn’t make it was because it was expensive and not very good. You cannot sell a link of boudin in Lafayette for $8. I can go to a gas station and buy a better link for $2.

Haven’t had Deanos in forever but I’m all about Pizza Village and Pizzaville USA. That crust is ideal.

I used to live right by Deano's BR back in the day. I think overall the pizza was okay, but overpriced for the college aged crowd.

I tell you what though, they were killing it selling cheap beer to underaged kids. ABC came in and shut that down, and they never really recovered.

I thought the pizza was pretty good. I think the biggest problem with that location is high lease

the one in Lafayette was pretty good in the day but, like Past Time, nostalgia factored in heavily haven't been in quite a few years, but back when the baws that owned Pizza Village were running it, at the old original location and actually cooking the pies, that was the best pizza around

Went there often back in the day. Waitstaff was slowwwwwwww...and, took a long time for the pizza to arrive, and was a little more pricy the other pizza places at the time. We loved the place and was sad to see it closed despite the location and slow service. We drive to Lafayette from time to time to get some.

Central Pizza blows every other pizza joint in Lafayette out the water.

I'm so tired of Deano's pizza. I very rarely get it. Even when I'm with people who want to go there, I'll eat a burger. They do have good margaritas though.

*shrug*

As I used to ask diners who claimed they--or someone else--could do better, "where's your James Beard Award?".
