That's my conclusion. This is just his way of pleading with the OT to believe hes not.

Working out is painful and difficult if you don’t have a habit of doing so regularly.
The fatter you are, the hungrier you are.
The more out of shape you are, the less energy you have.
So, you feel too exhausted to work out and too hungry to diet, so fat people just keep making excuses for themselves until they get too fat to feel like they could ever not be fat and just give up entirely.
You don't have to be a complete gym rat that lives in the gym or one of those freaks who eat rice and chicken breasts 24/7 all year to be in shape.
Just go to the gym for 3-4 days a week for a solid hour or so and do some cardio, lift some baby weights and eat some things that are medically recommended with enough protein and carbs on the food pyramid and eventually you will get to be in shape. It may take a while but you will get there.

I’m currently out kicking my coverage and eating whatever I want

Answer this honestly. How many flatbills do you own and how many gym selfies have you posted to social media.
Bonus question: number of cargo shorts in your wardrobe?

I mean I want to, but I like bread and Miller lites.

This is just as unattractive to women as a 5’8” 200 lbs guy with a bit of muscle (not me just hypothetical)

I’ve been on the orange part of that graph since the 4th grade (with the exception of about 6 months or so during my low 20’s).
I occasionally start working out, but just never am able to stick with a routine. Often times, it’s due to being so out of shape that I injure myself trying to start working out again. What I really find helps the most is having someone else to keep me accountable. Without having that feeling that I’m letting someone else down by not showing up to workout, the temptation to go home and curl up on the couch and go to sleep is often too inviting, and my routine breaks down and is eventually abandoned. I’ve been starting and stopping for like 3 years now and can never seem to lock into a routine. I don’t have the will and absolutely hate myself for it.
I know that getting in shape would be the most positive thing I could do for my health, mental state, self-esteem, dating prospects, etc, but I struggle to actually follow through with choosing to engage in the process to reach that goal day after day.

You forgot Jody.
Or that may just be a nickname.

When I cut out white enriched, sugar laden bread out of my diet, the results were more than noticeable.
Come to think of it, in college I was eating a with a foreigner from Argentina and I remember him taking one bite of that kind of bread and I remember him asking why the bread is so sweet here in America and he said the bread back home is just bread, not bread that tastes like candy.
That was a stark moment that made me rethink my diet and start myself on the journey of getting into shape.

Multiple spine injuries and surgeries make it tough to stay lean. I'm hoping after my next one I can be more active but I'm still recovering from a neck surgery

Actually that's a normal BMI, fwiw, and not on the low side of normal either. Of course musculature matters. But it is interesting, and perhaps supports OP's point, that people would think or 5'8" 150 as "Bean pole "

So-called whole wheat or whole grain store-bought bread is no better btw. I've seen a good case that it can actually be worse.
