re: Experience at Home Depot

I bought a riding mower wheel and tire at Home Depot last spring and when it rang up, at a cashier not self check out, it rang up for about 30% of what it was supposed to be. I told the cashier it wasn't right and she looked like I was being an a-hole and called her manager over. She rang it up and said it was correct and that they must have been on clearance from the previous summer. I said "If I had known they were that cheap I would have bought 2" to which she said "if you want another one and there is one back there go get it and we will ring it up". I did so and while I was getting the second one I checked and the wheel alone was exactly what the tire and wheel had rang up....and I noticed there was a bar code on the tire that matched the higher priced sticker on the shelf. I took the wheel alone, the wheel and tire combo and took pictures of the sticker on the shelf. They did not care a bit....said it had rang up correctly and asked if I wanted the second one. I did, of course, even knowing that they were using the wrong barcode....I did everything possible to inform them but they insisted they were correct and who am I to contradict them?

Hey liberal, your in a conservative store. Do it right or get slapped.

Costco nearly mugs you when you try to leave the store with the items you paid for.

Not Home Depot, but self checkout question for grocery stores
What are the odds that you’ll ever get questioned for scanning the large avocados at the small avocado price? Just curious, I’d never participate is such nefarious activity.

Thief
They should have cut your left hand off.
Next time you’d scan the items correctly.

Why not just use the black plastic bags like everyone else?
OP must live in a gaylib city that won’t let you use plastic and has security at Home Depots for rampant crime. I’ve never seen security at a Home Depot.

They do their job which deters idiots like yourself who try to skip scanning items. Its not buy 4 and get one free! Great post!

Seems like an adequate discount for self-service.
I hate self checkout for most things, but what I hate the most is when I say "thank you" to the person standing there, as if they have done anything to remotely help me.

Couple of months ago i was self checking out. Had about 6 steaks stacked up and scanned 5 of them and left one on the cart. didn't notice it as I pushed the cart past the stand. Lady came by and said, "you plan on paying for this?" I said "crap!" and grabbed and scanned it. Couldn't blame her if she thought I was gonna steal it, it sure looked that way.

Good thing Robert McCall wasn't working there that day.

Something similar happened to me the other day at Walmart. I forgot to ring up some paper plates. They didn’t say anything when they checked my receipt though. I didn’t notice until I got to the car. I wasn’t going back in.

At a Home Depot in New Orleans after Katrina :
Third customer in line with a security guard stationed at the door directly in front of the register. First customer rolled on through with a cart full of stuff, second customer rolled on through with a cart full of stuff, I was carrying my three items (spray can of Kilz, pack of rags, and a roll of blue tape). He watched me pay cash from less than 10 ft away and then stopped me to check my receipt against the items I was carrying. Why, I wonder.

They used to always check me at Walmart in less than stellar neighborhoods (the 2 times per year I was there). I am clean cut and wear polo shirts. I did not blame them… I would have done the same in their shoes rather than risk getting attacked.
I laughed in the lady’s face when she said I had to wait with everyone else

The only reason I got stopped for $5 was so HD can claim to “stop everyone”.
Or.. and hear me out.. the only reason you got stopped was because someone in loss prevention saw that you didn’t scan everything while checking out.
