Bigger is better. Steroids, Brest implants, big hair, etc. looking back people just looked absolutely ridiculous. Good times.

Basically every pathology you could think of.

The mid-80s to the mid-90s was basically the worst time for all the bullshite.

Violent crime/murder, abortion rate, teen pregnancy rate, etc.

Man, is this not true.

1994 saw absurd amount of murders in Nola, but by 1999 that amount of murders is what you see today.

We started 1990 in a recession but didn't last long.

Biden's lasted longer.

Im just pointing out things arent that much better in the 2020s.

Im going to push back on abortion.

States like California fail to report their abortion stats to the cdc.

quote:

For 2019, California, Maryland, and New Hampshire failed to report abortion data

quote:

New Jersey does not require abortion providers to report abortions to a governmental health agency.

We are aborting more now than ever.

Now this stat hasn't changed much over the last 30 years.

quote:

In 2024, the abortion rate for black women was nearly three times higher than for white women

Political activism while rooted in the hippie generation, really caught fire in the 90's as the beginning of the modern peak clown world. See 90's movie PCU, it was a parody of what was happening at the time, but eventually became truth today.

I opened this thread to post this. We were a generation that seemed to want to rebel, but couldn’t find a cause. And PC culture was around for about 5 to 6 years too.

In reality though, 1985 to 1995 was more similar than 1990 to 1999.

1985 to 1994 was more

1995 to 2002 was more

This is a good one. The LAPD ruined policing for everyone else in the country.

the media and George Bush did that, the legal system in LA did it's job, King got a trial and was convicted, but Bush said nope, not good enough

ETA: been a long time but I think the officers had a trial too and were acquitted but Bush said no, let's do that one over

Crime was the worst it's ever been but it was mostly contained to the parts of town you knew to not go to. Today crime is spread across an entire city thanks to the gov desire to spread shitty people across town and destroy the suburbs.

Crime is at almost historic levels in every city in the US. The idea that crime is high and getting higher is wishful thinking. The fact that no one carries cash anymore has almost eliminated street crime in the United States but I fully understand the need to wrap one's self in irrational fear....

Because the LAPD beat the everloving dogshit out of Rodney King. All the LAPD had to do was not do that.

the night of the beating King, already a convict under parole, was violating terms of his parole, resisted arrest and charged a cop, did they use excessive force? a jury said no, initially

initially, the cops did not use excessive force. But once he was restrained and taken under control, they continued to beat the shite out of him will billy clubs.

The cops did 3 things. The first thing was right. The second thing was right. The third thing was very very very wrong.

I say this as someone who supports a pardon/appeal of Chauvin. He got railroaded in a political kangaroo trial.

Go look at any 90's yearbook and 80% of guys and probably 50% of girls wore plaid for their school photos

MTV Real World first aired in '92. Birth of main stream reality TV that is so common today.
