Every week when I get junk mail it makes me wish the Post Office would go bankrupt

And be forced to stop operations.
Think off all the waste involved in creating these junk mailers and seeing them go straight in the trash. And no matter what I tell the USPS they will keep bringing this crap to my house.
I know it was a Seinfeld episode, but why I can’t I turn off my mail? Other than packages everything else I do is paperless. Packages could in theory be delivered by GPS, so why do some of us even really need a mailing addresses?

You are really dumb if you think the USPS is responsible for this.

The strange thing is direct mail MUST work. I have never really minded direct mail crap, it all comes in one handful to my house so easy to toss. It is a lot more work to go through the white envelope junk mail to make sure I am not throwing away a credit card or missing something important.

Did I say they were creating the mailings genius?
Last I read junk mail is about the only thing keeping them afloat these days so I think I am accurate in saying they are at least complicit. Or do you think the USPS wants to give me an option that would reduce their revenue stream?

You should mail the junk mail back to the post office.

You want the government to open and sort your mail for you?

Just weird that you're blaming the USPS for doing their job. That's like blaming the News reporters for delivering bad news everyday. It's literally their job to do so.
The problem can really be traced back to you. Stop putting your address on so many online forms and then companies won't have your address to send you junk mail.

USPS probably gives them special rates therefore enabling them.
I don't get anything important in (one of) my mailboxes so I just let them keep trying to stuff the junk in there. Gets pretty tight in there after a few weeks.

They have to make money by doing that though. Idk how, but they make enough money to keep it going

Yep. I actually use the coupon mailers we get. The straight junk that tries to pass itself off as legit mail is what I laugh at.

Some people love junk mail....
Also, the post office has no idea whats in the mail. If they did, no one would use the post office. They would send emails instead, which is a lot more traceable...

The post office does not create mail

Return to sender.
Also, most of those junk mailers allow you to unsubscribe if you go to their website.

I don’t think you know how the mail works

Some pro tips...
1. Don't register for warrantees and rebates. You're giving permission for them to sell your address.
2. Don't sign up for "free" anything online.
3. Skim through your junk mail for these:
Drop them in the outgoing mail chute.

Wouldn’t replying to junk mail get me on more lists? I’ve never signed up for anything free or bullshite like that online and I get a crazy amount of junk mail.

Of course it would, but if you drop the blank card in the box, they still have to mail it and bill the recipient.
