I just Googled this because I wasn’t sure if I’d seen one. Not sure I’d know the difference between a golden eagle and a hawk.
Eagles will grow to larger size and as compared to a red-tailed hawk, there’s no white belly on the eagle. Think about the eagles that typically fly at Auburn games.

I was in Ketchikan Alaska a few years ago. Every evening we’d sit at the lodge overlooking the sea and watch about a dozen Bald Eagles fly by, about 300 feet away, for an hour or two.

There was a nest in the batture next to Harahan a few years ago, which means they’re still in that area.

Used to see them frequently while out fishing on my favorite inland creek near Kiawah island South Carolina.
Saw a few flying flamingos as well. Also baby pelicans landing on my boat.

Saw a lot of them in Alaska very up close. Those huge things are impressive and have a huge wingspan.

This is a Red Tailed Hawk (probably most common in your area) next to a Golden Eagle.
Both Bald and Golden are quite a bit bigger than your standard hawk.

I saw one grab a salmon near the shore but couldn’t fly away so it swam to shore. It chattered so much after getting to shore. Almost sounded like it was talking shite to the other birds
I was in my drift boat when the local eagle I see on that river coming upstream about 20’ overhead with his full wingspan spread. Very slow like….was fricking cool!
I see a lot of them on my yearly boys trip in Neah Bay, WA. When we clean our fish I make sure I give my scraps to the eagles instead of the sea gulls.
I was fly fishing Lost Lake near Sisters, OR and there’s 2 pair of eagles and about 40 osprey that are home to that lake. Osprey were constantly catching fish around me. The eagles would come out and the osprey would team up and harass them so the Eagles would catch quickly then go back to their nest. That’s probably my coolest experience being around those birds.
I’ve been to Alaska a few times and they’re everywhere.

Absolutely.
If there’s is a small river/large creek that has fish, there will likely be eagles somewhere near it.
Video below I took of one in 2023. We saw them on 3 different hunting sits. One of these days there were 2 flying. We saw them this past Fall too. I think I’ve probably seen 15-20 since about 2010ish up here:

Lots of them in Western Washington. They are easy to find during the salmon runs:

We see them all the time here in Michigan. I’ve seen dozens at a time before.

Two lakes I fish in N.C. have healthy populations. Have seen adults and juveniles cavorting 30 feet over my boat, just an amazing sight.

North shore of Lake ouachita Arkansas. During the white bass run you can fish right next aggressive eagles. I'd have pics but I don't take my phone when fishing.
The eagles just eat the eggs and leave the rest for scavengers. Up close they are intimidating as hell when they spread thier wings. I watched one eating road kill deer lift and fly about 20 feet with half a deer carcass trying to keep a dog from his food.
Watching road runners and eagles up close really let's you know how terrifying dinosaurs were

You see them everywhere on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.
They are so common there that after a few days you don't even point and say, "Hey, everybody, there's an eagle!!"

I was backpacking in Arkansas and one came flying down the river I was hiking along. It was really cool.
Was driving home on Hwy 30 one day and one flew low across the road with a big snake in its mouth.
Canoeing in a lake in Montana and one was flying circles above us looking for fish.
They are so majestic

Twice, once at the Floridian Golf Course near Palm Beach and the second time in Big Sky Montana while rafting. Amazing to see in person.

Saw one last week in Colorado.

Off of I-49 close to Bella Vista, Arkansas there are dozens each year in January hanging around some chicken houses.
