but that isn't a bald eagle. It is an eagle, but the tips of the wings and tail have to be white also to be considered a bald eagle.
absolutely false. A young bald eagle had no white. They have to be fully mature to be as you described. But they are still bald eagles.

There's a few places that almost always have eagles. There's a nest to the right just before you get to New Orleans. In North Louisiana most big lakes have a few.

The coolest place I've ever seen one is on the "Lost Man" trail outside of Aspen. We were about 12,000 feet up and there's a glacier lake that had one circling it. Here's a pic of the lake, the trail goes up to the left. As my son went over the peak there was a family of mountain goats. It was an awesome experience.

Yes. Many times. Usually when I'm fishing in the SE Louisiana marshes and I a have seen them on the Tchefuncte River many times.

Saw them constantly growing up. We had bald eagle nests less than a mile from my parents’ house. Still do.

There’s several in central Arkansas, some from Arkansas might’ve made their way to Oklahoma.
We rented a house on the White River near Norfolk, AR and they were everywhere. A few would sit in the trees across the river fom the house and fish as needed. It was great.

Sightings in Oklahoma are almost unheard of.

In Oklahoma, see them quite often. Especially around the Arkansas River in the Jenks area and also out of 412 towards the Verdigris River.

Mountains of Southern California is a bald eagles nest above Big Bear Lake. They have a live cam that operates 24/7. This is a current picture, and a link to the web cam.

Thank you for sharing that. Cool to see it with the winter weather in its nest.

I’ve seen them flying over Lake Conroe. National Forest area.

They nest around Lake Houston also; it's why Atascocita High School is the Eagles.

We saw one hunting fish on last week's snow day.

There’s one that flys around the plant. There’s also a bunch of deer roaming around and I’m in a town. When wild life meets people makes work interesting.

We had a pair in Monroe years back that stayed for a few months, this had to have been around 2009 or 10. Were living on Bayou Desiard in North Monroe near the country club. Would see them routinely diving into the bayou, flying around. Saw one grab a 5 ft water snake and drop it from about 100 feet up.

My buddy had a lake house on Darbonne and there was one that nested right across the inlet they were located on. This was around 07/08. Not sure if there's any still located up that way.

We see them pretty often at our camp in CENLA.

Their call would probably surprise someone who's never heard it- more shrill than most would think. But they are some truly awesome birds.

Damn I hope that Eagle got his electric blanket on under that snow. Talk about exposed to the elements.

There are a couple of nesting pairs on the Wolf River watershed out near Houston Levee and 385 in Collierville. They used to be all over the river but got pushed out by developers years ago. Now they are making a comeback. They like to hunt the big lake at Shelby Farms.

Those bad boys are prepped for cold. Beyond the two layers of feathers they keep as insulation. Then they have a single patch without feathers on their stomach to really heat those eggs. They literally turn down their own body temps at night in order to conserve energy and have a counter current heat exchange within their bodies to keep the body heat up near their core.

It's pretty cool.

Spring River Arkansas also has a bunch of them thanks to the river/fish hatcheries. AFGC says they’ve lost track of exactly how many they have.
