Been both
I was riding in the backseat of my grandfathers car when I was little and bam! The window shattered, a dear had come out of the woods and rammed the car as he was trying to run across the street. Scared me shitless and I was covered n glass

I was going to a friends house who lived outside of town. The road had lots of twists ect so when it straightened out I sped up, im going and I see a dear on the right side of the road just standing there, I slow down and get over in the far lane and the fkr jumped out and I cut back n caught him with the driver-side headlight. He flew off into the ditch then the car started having stuff shooting through the vents, I pulled over and luckily a lady was in her yard who saw the whole thing and asked if i needed to use her phone to call my Dad. This was mid 90s so no cell

I've gone on some long solo road trips on my motorcycle over the years and love to ride late at night and into the early morning hours if the weather is hot.

Problem is, that is when wildlife is out and about and I've had a few close calls on the roads at 0' Dark Thirty on two lane rural roads.

That’s a shame. Prices for veterinary dentists are ridiculous.

I have hit three, the last being two weeks ago. I figure if I put a bumper guard on my truck that will never happen again.

The worst, by far, was one of those big bastards up in Michigan.

I have hit 3 all within the last 5 years. I totaled a work vehicle 2 weeks ago when a doe bolted out in front of me. Broke the hood latch and the hood flew back. She rolled up on the windshield and all I saw for a few seconds was deer face and hood. That'll get the blood pumping at 6 in the morning. We've had so much rain out here that it seems to have them moving a lot this spring. That, and it was 40 degrees outside.

I nailed a pretty nice buck a few years ago about 2 miles from a Cabela's lease out here. That one shoved the radiator back a few inches. I opened the hood and found some fur on the alternator pulley. Totaled Silverado.

The other one I hit, I got a salvage tag from the patrolman. We got very little out of it. She broke just about every rib and had bruised both front shoulders. I thought I had just clipped her head with my headlight, but the damage was much worse. I was able to salvage about 10 lbs of meat. It wasn't worth the trouble. What a mess.

What happened to the cow?

Did a somersault midair then proceeded to get up and run off. Looked like something out of a movie. We actually spent the next hour finding where it got out and got it back through the fence and into the pasture.

I had to slam my brakes on Burbank just the other night because a deer was just chillin in the middle of the road. It was kinda past the soccer fields close to the Highland intersection on that big curve. I was able to stop in time and there were no other cars on the road because it was late, but thing scared the shite out of me. It just stood there for a good few seconds then ran off into the woods.

A large buck came into my yard to eat apples off the tree.
Was 4 feet from kitchen door. He turned and gave us the stank-eye and we backed out of kitchen.

I never hit one.
Acquaintance at la tech hit a mule at night. Totaled car and put him in hospital a few days.

My cleaning lady totaled her car last week hitting a deer.

I've hit 4 over the years...the most memorable was when I still had my bus. Going down US 340 toward West Virginia when a herd of them came across the road...slammed into about a 5 point going 40-50 MPH...

when I pulled over to look at the front of the bus, there was a small dent in the stainless about 3 inches long...old Bambi now, that was another story...

26,000 pounds of old fashioned American steel and aluminum took care of me!!!

Had to come to a complete stop on 2-lane 45 mph limit Hot Springs Village main thoroughfare to avoid hitting a HUGE turkey last month. Was taking Mom to get her hair did and the damned thing just slowly walked across the road with traffic in both directions all around. 3 or 4 others had already made it across. It finally hurried up when I was about 6 inches from clipping it on the passenger side. Damned thing hopped up flapping and squawking to about 5-6 feet high, looking over the hood of the SUV. It would've definitely done some damage if hit.

Saw in the local paper 2 people hit a large black bear that week (apparently no harm as it never lost blood and photo'd day later in a backyard) and several deer get hit every week. 17k-20k villagers in that community, talk of expanding the bow hunting allowed within the place. (largest private gated community in the USA)
