I sometimes revoke time off and let the person take PTO without it counting against them as a reward if they had been performing well, but never to force them back in the office if I’ve already approved it.
That’s a morale killer in a time when employees are moving every 18 months anyways.
He’s either desperate, an arse or he wants you gone.

So your boss wants you to work so he can take off? frick him

I’d just ignore it completely and deal with it when I got back.
If he’s really that much of a dick about it, let him fire you and you’ll be better off not working for him anyway.
If he’s a dick about it but doesn’t fire you, start looking for a new job.
If he never brings it back up, congrats on standing up for yourself and winning.
Under no circumstance do you give in, because 1) life’s too short and 2) you set yourself up for a horrible precedent in future

Quit. Find a better job that pays more.

Yeah I told them they can either prepare for my being out or deal with it that day

Wow. I figured everyone had a four day weekend. Paid holiday Monday and Tuesday.

The shake machine isn't going to fix itself. Get back behind the counter and defrost that thing.

Not your fault your boss is bad at managing his people and time.
I'd be looking for other jobs at this point.

Unless it's your company you just aided in theft.

So they can both take off? Yeah not doing that without some other return for me.
Posted on 6/30/23 at 12:24 pm to BoogaBear
I’ve never done that or had that happen to me.
The only times I’ve seen it done is when someone has an essential operational job and a coworker either is extremely I’ll and in the hospital, or a coworker has a death of a very close relative.
A boss deciding that they want the same day and reversing a previous approval is shite leadership!

LOL
It’s pretty normal at all companies I’ve ever worked for managers to give extra time off for someone working extra hours or for weekend work.
Not a in the books thing, just a gentleman’s agreement

Tell him you quit.
Never quit, tell him you are taking your previously approved day. Then if they fire you they are on the hook for unemployment while you find a new job.
