Are you even half that cool now?

Nope

Another interesting thing about Idol, is that even though he was very much a part of the "British invasion" punk scene, he wasn't a fan of the angst, militancy, and negativity the punk bands of the time were associated with and promoted in their music. He wanted to make more positive music associated with love (and sex) and other topics as well as exploring different styles, which is why he has such a wide variance throughout his songs and albums

Have you seen Rob Zombie live? Puts current acts to shame with his energy on the stage.

His guitarist, Steve Stevens, still has it, and has been his secret weapon for decades
The other thing in his favor, is that he has a fantastic singing voice. Higher pitch, but similar to Elvis' . And it appears he hasn't lost it yet. So he can get away with singing, even going unplugged/acoustic, and it sounds great.
There's not really a lot of rockers that could do that. Many just have a controlled scream, and that goes away in time

Steve Stevens produced a lot of Billy's stuff. Secret weapon, indeed.

It’s truly amazing that he is still alive much look this great at 70. This is unheard of considering all the partying he did.

I mentioned he had an excellent voice...

Here's an example from 3 yrs ago. Not rock, a slightly different genre

I didn't know he did that album until I just found it. Think I will download it, there's a few songs he does well

Steve Stevens is massively underrated. There's one song from him that every red-blooded American knows.

Saw him in Vegas I think it was in 2018 and it was a great show. Didn't realize he was that old.

Hats off to him, he's been releasing new music and keeps on going. I bought his last album "Dream Into It", it's ok. Happens to all older musicians, their early music totally overshadows any last material that they release.

Cradle of Love is perhaps my favorite of his. Rebel Yell rocks but radio over killed it.

Watch videos of current Poison, Guns N Roses, White Snake, Def Leppard, etc... any 80s hair band and they look and perform like a band of dying skeletons, gasping for air and clinging onto life while barely mumbling through songs.

Great clip! Billy Idol still has his fastball.

Iron Maiden is the one 80’s band that I’d argue is also throwing fastballs.

Also, millions of people can sing phenomenally and a fair portion of them also have charisma. The differentiators are that they must be absolutely beautiful (or hideous) and if so, able to deal with the bullshite business side of things are pretty much willing to give up their personal life in the pursuit of fame.

Idol is a specimen of a beautiful man.

Motorcycle wreck cost him the T-1000 role in T2: Judgment Day. That would have added to the legend of Billy.

My ex’s dad is good friends with him, they rode bikes together amongst other things. I was told he lost the role The Doors because of the wreck.
