I moved into a brand new apartment at the end of July and the dryer didn't work. Sent in a maintenance request and after 4 weeks they just brought in a new unit instead of waiting for the part needed to fix it.

Well, except for the fact that the vast majority of chips aren't made here.

Global supply shortages are a bitch. It's shortages on even materials to make things.

What has changed with regard to demand for replacing broken household appliances?
They all have semiconductors in them. Chips are in anything and everything electrical.

I'm curious what current government restrictions are preventing someone from receiving a purchases fridge, oven, or new HVAC in a time fashion, or the manufacturers from producing them?

My 2019 Sierra broke down on me a few weeks ago. I was told by the dealership that it was a fuel pump module and that I may be without my truck until next Spring due to the part being on backorder. After I bitched for about a week they called and told me that my truck was fixed.

Yeah, no shite.
With supply chain issues, you could just as easily blame companies that scaled back production in the early stage of the pandemic in anticipation of lowered demand, then couldn't catch up after.

OK.

Broken Dryer: clothes line for big stuff, drying rack for small, clothes hangers on clothes line or on shower curtain rod.
Refrigerator: small freezer, dorm sized refrigerator until the one your family needs becomes available.
Small appliances: go to utube to see how to take them apart. I've repaired by under the shelf electric can opened yearly for the past four years by taking it out, cleaning the parts and putting it back together again. why? because nobody makes the damn things any more.

I know you didn’t look into this much before posting your bitch rant. But, since a lot of people are moving to suburbs, didn’t take vacation Bc of Covid, got stimmy checks etc. those home improvement and appliance manufactures are doing about twice the volume they were doing in January 2020 and raw materials can’t keep up with demand.

Nah, I'm adult enough to recognize it's no one individual's "fault." I just hope it's not a systematic issue going forward.

You can thank all the Dim's and leftist for electing that fricking cuck Biden for the shortage.

Lolz. Caught me! I’m the one in China producing semi conductors, plastics, and glass.

I’m afraid your concerns are correct. We should have not created a system that relied on foreign countries to make most of our goods.

You definitely have some built up resentment for "customers" though. You install and repair appliances?
