Is this supposed to be considered just the accepted "new normal" now? Are we ever going to get over the hump on this shittiness? Or is everyone now cool with us regressing as a functional society?

What “essential household items” are you talking about?

I open this thread and I imagine the Dragnet movie from the 80s where the woman on the fake Playboy Mansion intercom answers “Oh thank GOD… Vibrator repair?!?”?

COVID has allowed companies to reduce their service to beyond shitty and get away with it. It'll be 2025 and we're still hearing COVID as an excuse.

I hope every Biden voter’s furnace breaks this winter. Seriously. I really do hope that.

Edit: ok, no I don’t REALLY hope they all suffer and/or die. But man I really want them to regret their decision.

I get the vast majority of my stuff in 3 days, and I have something coming almost every single day. 2 things yesterday, Sunday. Are you ordering stuff from Asia? Most of my stuff is Amazon prime.

Nope. If you can't fix it after watching Youtube then you better just buy a new one. I wouldn't waste time and money on appliance service/repair.

My dryer went out 2 weeks ago, found one on FB Marketplace and went and picked it up a couple hours later. Waiting 3 weeks and having to listen to my wife bitch about it every day just isn't worth buying it new from Bestbuy or Home Depot/Lowes.

it’s simply a supply and demand problem.

I had a stove, washing machine and fridge go out within a month of each other. I got very lucky that I was able to replace them all the same day of them breaking, but you basically had to take whatever option they had. I had to drive two hours for the stove but they had it in stock and waiting for me when I got there. Luckily the washer and fridge (cheap garage fridge) were available locally. Yea, if you are wanting a specific model then you are screwed on wait times.

Since WWII, one pleasing facet of our society was the ability to have a steady supply of products and parts for those products.

We are now falling down towards third world/Soviet Bloc status where items are unavailable or only available after a long wait.

When you pay people to stay at home, it is hard to get people to go back to work.

I bought a home in August of 2020. The previous owner wouldnt let the fridge stay with the house. I thought it was weird at the time...found out why after when i tried to order one from HD and Lowes.

Had to settle for using a 7 cuft from Sams for like 2 months while I waited.

JIT Supply chain is all askew. Blame China.

Has the term “breakthough cases” gone out of vogue?

The world is not normal.
