it's hard to see how a 12-1 LSU could be considered behind any other one loss team

They wouldn’t.

12-1 with a slew of ranked and top 10 wins with one loss by 8 on the road. They would not be left out.

That's kind of a tautology. Win out and the only obstacle is four undefeateds.

Yeah, I don't see how it isn't higher... Notre Dame would have to go undefeated to take a spot, and then every other conference would have to have an undefeated or 1-loss champ, and only Ohio State and Clemson are currently undefeated, so would a 12-1 Oklahoma or Texas jump over a 12-1 LSU? I don't think so. Or a 12-1 Oregon? Not a chance.

And UCF isn't taking a spot away from a 1-loss power 5 champ.

but this is not accurate. The odds of having four undefeateds is less than 11%, I would imagine.
Which means they also have some one loss teams ahead.

Although I still see a scenario that LSU wins out but gets excluded from the playoff in favor of a 1 loss (to LSU) Alabama. It would piss me off like nothing else, but would not surprise me.

They wouldn't exclude LSU, but they would find a way to include Bama.

Wat?

If they win out, they will have beaten Alabama, A&M, and the East champ (probably Georgia) in addition to their current wins.

How exactly does a team in fifth place win out, including beating one of the top four teams in the process, and still miss the playoffs?

How the hell is it not 100%?

Have to allow for Bama to get their bye week

Then maybe we can be one of the 3 other teams

Honestly, I would argue if they win out and lose to Georgia in SECG they still deserve a spot with 2 losses

Especially since one of them is on our schedule

Someone has to lose between NC State and Clemson this week

There are 3 undefeated teams in the AAU and none of those will sniff the playoff

Ohio St, ND and Clemson are the only relevant schools that have a shot at being undefeated

They must think that a 12-1 Oklahoma would have a chance at taking the 4th spot after the three undefeated teams.

Also probably a 12-1 Ohio State would also be above LSU.

Is "win out" just the regular season?

Nope. Gotta include SEC title game because it says if Florida "finish[es] 12-1, there's an 83 percent chance the Gators will reach the playoff." For 13 games, that has to include the SEC title game.

If Gators win out, Georgia wins out, LSU wins out, or Alabama wins out...100% lock to make playoff.

If LSU wins out and doesn't make the playoff, I'm joining Antifa and renouncing every belief I've ever had. This entire society would need to be burned to the ground.
