I have one theory when it comes to these people who are in a spiritual leader role. I think some of them might fight it so they decide to go the religious path thinking it will take their mind off of it.. Maybe?
I’ve always believed this to be true. I think many recognize they are a pedo by early adulthood. I think it is initially troubling to them so they enter the clergy in hopes of cleansing themselves. And the urges just become stronger and later irresistible as they have more access to children

They and the United Methodist Church are in a race to see who can first reach the bottom.
Years ago I left the episcopal church. I’m currently at a pretty conservative United Methodist church. The episcopal “church” has had a huge head start and is going to crash and burn soon. They are putting race and sexual preference on an idol next to Christ. There are still good United Methodist churches out there that focus on scripture, family, and community outreach.

Some of the churches over the years have tried to open up to the ways of the modern world.

Your church is almost bankrupt. Show a little humility
And it's a sin to lie. I assure you Jesus doesn't take lightly you disparaging the very church fathers who were taught by His disciples. Be careful.

an old gay man in California is a pedo, I personally am shocked.

I know throughout history there have been young girls who married old dudes. That might still happen in some arab places.. I don't know, but personally, I think its unnatural. A girl can be... I don't know.. 23.. but if she has a certain young look about her, I don't find it attractive. I just don't get it..
Is 23yo girl a "young girl" to you if an older guy marries here? Confused how that's "unnatural". Once a girl becomes fertile, nature is saying she is ready to procreate. So marriage, and reproduction is as natural of a human behavior as there is.
Sure this may not fit in todays society, but if things were to go to crap, we'd naturally fall back to true nature's way to get society back on track.

quote:Actually, it was undercover people portraying 14 and 15 year old boys.
For the record, it was a 14 year old boy not 14 1 year old boys.
Hopefully, law enforcement can look into this.
His church will need to demonstrate who they are in dealing with this mess. But the fact that he is married to a man while serving them already speaks volumes...

Gay sex must be okay in the Episcopal Bible.

Reverend Roger Haenke, with St. John's Episcopal Church, was seen emerging from his home with his husband after being confronted.
Someone here once trolled me asking for examples of why the Episcopal Church in America has ceased to be a part of Christ’s Church and had become blasphemous and heretical.
This whole story is just one example. And why millions of orthodox traditional Episcopalians fled years ago and have realigned with others globally that believe, preach, and teach Christ’s Gospel.

Not being a dick
I just accept very little of what either denomination is offering and after sitting in their pews, see their positions and ceremony as quite similar - even after seeing some distinctions.
And your comment about Methodists was exactly my impression - before the recent split. Those who split seem stronger and more steeped in the Word which is encouraging.
By your comments, you seem to have also been a theological butterfly.
It is a strange experience.

Episcopalians and Anglicans (which are more socially conservative Episcopalians) may resemble Catholicism in liturgy, as the Episcopalians and Anglicans like the pomp and circumstances of a Catholic Mass, but they greatly differ on a lot of theology and ideology (Eucharist, Catholic Tradition, sola scriptura, Mary, Holy See and magisterium, many of the sacraments, and so on).
A reasonable take on things but lacking on a couple of points.
Anglicans that you refer to as more socially conservative Episcopalians are also conservative theologically and adhere to an older, traditional, and orthodox Christian faith.
In fact many Episcopalians that left the mainline denomination over its virtual total abandonment of biblical, traditional Christian beliefs intentionally adopted the label Anglican to differentiate themselves from the heretical Episcopal denomination. That’s not always effective because the Church of England is THE Anglican mother church and it’s every bit the mess its American counterpart is. Possibly worse in some arenas like abortion up to nine months and promoting euthanasia.
Some so called “conservative” Anglican groups allow or even encourage ordination of women. My Anglican denomination does not allow this. I believe women’s ordination is the camel’s nose under the tent that ultimately destroyed the American Episcopal “Church” and led to its embracing the ordination of practicing homosexual men and lesbians as priests. Even at one point making a homosexual man who left his wife and children a bishop and sanctioned and celebrated his marriage to his male partner.
Respecting liturgy:
There is very much similarity between Anglican and Roman Catholic liturgy, particularly the Roman Latin Mass but not because of “pomp and circumstances”.
Read an older Anglican/Episcopal missal or prayer book and compare it to the English translation of the Roman Catholic Latin Mass and in many places they are word for word. Often elements are in different places. For example the Gloria in excelsis in the Latin Mass is sung after the Kyrie Eleison, well before distribution of the elements of Holy Communion and in the 1928 American Mass it’s after the distribution of the elements following immediately after the prayer of Thanksgiving.
The reason for both Anglicans and Roman Catholics sharing a common liturgy is that the liturgy, liturgies, are old and Christ’s Church has worshipped liturgically using one form or another almost from its inception. It’s not a matter of Pomp or Circumstances. It’s part and parcel of appropriate reverential worship of Almighty God.
You are absolutely correct respecting differences on many points of theology, doctrine, scripture, sacraments, dogma, and ecclesiology. They blame Protestants and Protestants blame them and very few on either side are willing to put in the work to find the many points of agreement, actual or potential, and strive for a return to an undivided Holy Catholic Church.
