Sure it will, eventually. The technology is not there yet, and the free market wouldn't support any of this right now. The government needs to let the market naturally decide what the best tech for the time is. Thats how we got the steam engine and manned flight. That is how we will get whatever is next. Forcing it doesn't work

Lithium ion batteries isn't the final answer, and I personally don't think batteries are the answer at all.

Also, how much gas does it actually save?

Less $$ than the early failure of the starter you'll have to replace as a result of this feature

Ford and GM are all in on it.

They are ahead of Toyota and Honda in EV's

I'm waiting to see what Toyota and Honda do. My guess is they have been working on this way longer than anyone wants to give them credit for, they just aren't trying to rush to the starting line like the others.

Pull out of the US market possibly. Neither offers a diesel vehicle in the US because they don't want to deal with the bullshite and possibility of getting volkswaggoned

Honda is just buying the EV running gear and skateboard chassis from GM. All of their first line of long range EV's will be built by General Motors.

How about India and China put any type of emissions control on their vehicles. That would make the biggest impact on climate change.

They don't have the balls or votes to legislate an electric car mandate so they are trying to use regulations that will achieve the same result.

Over the long haul, this is going to make vintage car collecting interesting.

only way my tundra would do that is if it was riding on the back of a flatbed.
Not sure mine would do it then. I LOVE the truck, but it sucks gas like a $5 whore going down on the weekend.

This is how you get shitty fricking cars that only hippies like to drive. Get the government out of the way and let the market decide. If everyone wants to drive a Tesla, let the demand dictate it. If everyone wants to drive a a got damned muscle car that gets 2 gallons to the mile, let the market dictate it.

I am not necessarily in favor of this, but it's also how you get innovation that will push the boundaries. As long as we still enjoy a free market, manufacturers are going to build what the people want. If a bad arse truck is what people want, they will build it, but it will have to reach whatever mileage standard the government sets.

Cars and trucks are getting better gas millage every year

My work car just got upgraded from a Ford Focus (I hated it but it was free) to a Ford Escape because they stopped making focuses and fusions.

While I’d rather have something full sized, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the Escape’s fuel economy. If I go in eco mode on the highway I gets 35-38 mpg and is still fairly zippy.

This is a stupid feature saving almost no gas, stopping almost no emissions, and wearing out the starter.

Forscan. I have it completely erased from my truck. It doesn't even come up in the menu.

Youthink rollingblackouts are bad in Cali now...

You're ignoring a whole lot of infrastructure that needs upgrading to handle that kind of electric demand.
