I work in a lab with about 50 working RF sites. We get tested quarterly for EMR. Considering the fact EMR is not even ionizing I can assure everyone in here unless they work medical equipment daily or walk with a Cell Phone in their ear 22 out of 24 hours a day, EMR is a non-concern.

How would your neighbor know the radiation levels it's putting out?

Call her on her cell phone and tell her that will be the level of radiation she will get from that smart meter.

Or have her stand next to her Wifi router.

If she doesn’t have a cell phone or wifi, then you lost her she went overboard with this RF radiation crap.

I would imagine it's similar in levels to a cellphone aka perfectly safe.

There is 240 volts coming into a house, 120 and 240 volts running through the walls of a house, 1000 watt microwaves in the kitchen, cell phones on one's person, Bluetooth, wifi, televisions, and computers in the house. These things radiate RF and EMI 100+ times greater than a smart meter, which is located outside the house.

Ignorant people worry about the weirdest things.

Is she a stay at home mom? Does she rail against vaccines on her monetized FB page? Does she believe in eastern medicine over MD’s?

Much harder to run the meter backwards with a smart meter.

I doubt it’s using ionizing radiation.

It's definitely not ionizing. It's just RF and the antennas are outside. If you are concerned about cancer from a smart meter, toss the cell phone and router in your homes stat.

I am not sure "perfectly safe" is the proper term, several studies have found no "significant" relationship between cell phone usage, and cancer, but if you surveyed neurosurgeons that have practiced for the last 30 years they will tell you about the alarming increase in right side brain tumors over that period.

Most of them are based on Zigbee radios, you and your neighbors probably already have a Zigbee device in your home
