re: Entergy's smart meter - question about the radiation it puts out?

A smartphone and a laptop put out about 100x and 10x more RF waves, respectively, than a smart meter.

I've heard horror stories about what these "smart" meters are doing to kids and pets. All for the sake of letting the govt. through a the energy company monopolies spy on us. No thank you for me and my house.
Thanks el Gaucho!!

She said you can opt out and not allow entergy to install it
I'd choose to opt out of talking to her.

They constantly kept bringing up the radiation these meters constantly put out. She kept saying its really dangerous around little kids.

It would be nearly impossible to conduct a study to prove or disprove a link between living in a house with smart meters and cancer because people have so many sources of exposure to RF and the level of exposure from this source is so small. Because, the amount of RF radiation you could be exposed to from a smart meter is much less than what you could be exposed to from a cell phone, it is very unlikely that living in a house with a smart meter increases risk of cancer. The World Health Organization has promised to conduct a formal assessment of the risks from RF exposure but this report is not yet available.
Smart meters are outside of the house, not inside a house.

Electromagnetic radiation passes through walls, and windows otherwise you couldn't make a cell phone call sitting in your living room.

Well thats just not true.

Problem is Entergy is charging an opt out penalty of 15$ per month to keep the old meter( DEMCO is charging 35$ per month). Not sure how they are getting away with this.
Because they are charging you for the labor to send a person out to your house to read the info that you think is none of their business.

They operate near the same frequencies as Wifi, cell phones, and bluetooth. So you are already a dead man.

Concerns have been raised about the safety of smart meters, mainly because they give off the same kinds of radiofrequency (RF) waves as cell phones and Wi-Fi devices.

Do you think they are putting radiation sources in thousands of meters? For what? And even if they did, what harm would it cause? Do you realize there are trace amounts of alpha emitting radiation in every smoke detector in your home? It’s pretty harmless. Relax.

I hate to break it to you but if I gave you goggles to see Emag Fields around you daily you'd probably have a panic attack.

So i have some neighbors that I recently spoke with who were aksing me if I knew about Entergy's smart meters they are going to be installing at everyone' home. They tell me that are extremely harmful. They constantly kept bringing up the radiation these meters constantly put out. She kept saying its really dangerous around little kids.

quote:you know what also is on that list?
as possibly carcinogenic to humans
Caffeic acid - so coffeee
Nickel, metallic and alloys - so your change, and basically any thing metal around you because they are alloys
Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields, such as, but not limited to, those associated with wireless phones
so you are a loon..... Everything around you is on the "possible to be harmful to humans".
quote:and horse and buggy did fine getting us from place to place... Why do we have cars.
So why add another source to your home if it’s unnecesssry. Smart meters are not a necessity for measuring energy use. The analogue meters work just fine and have none of the possible adverse health risks.

The smart meters have been around for around a decade in Houston. There has been several health studies done. Your cell phone you have glued to your hands put out more radiation than the smart meters.

Actually, it is. All the utility company needs to know is how much I use and then charge me for that amount. The meters I have now are currently doing that. They do not need to know the how, when and where and they certainly don’t need to be able to access that info at will( which the advanced meters allow). All about big data and the $$$

Access to data in the electric grid
I am begging the OT once again, please do research on a subject. Please step a foot out of the parish and see how things are done in other parts of the parish, state, country. Gather information to become better informed.
