Are you ready to pay for it?
I'd say consumers already pay for it.
How about some of the billions being spent on "EV charging networks" goes into hardening the grid?

It’s actually a terrible idea for Louisiana. Your ac is also pulls humidity out of the air. The humidity can make your home damp. And at 80 degrees inside you are helping mold grow since it grows best between 75-85 in the house.
It's really a lot more complicated than that. There are other factors involved. If you constantly keep your house a lot lower than the dew point and it's not properly insulated, or you have a pier and beam house, you can get condensation at the interface where the cold materials from your house meets warm humid outside air and it will eventually wick into the wood of your home, causing mold, expansion of wet wood (buckling of wood flooring), and rot. Plus dampness from condensation in wood is the perfect habitat for powder post beetles.

Not in Louisiana. They have the cheapest electrical rates in the country which is reflected in the softest grid.

The government doesn’t own or operates “the grid”. It’s Almost exclusively privately owned. If you want it federalized, that’s a different rabbit hole. Private grid operators already get massive subsidies. Would you prefer federalization or further increased subsidies? Those are your only options.

Unless you have an oversized unit and/or a very high "R value" house insulation, then 20 degrees below ambient is about the best you can expect.
I can handle 80 in the daytime as long as there is good air circulation, but I cannot handle it at night. Luckily, it isn't 100 here at night, so getting to low 70s isn't difficult.

I’m perfectly content to let all Entergy customers continue to suffer. I makes no difference to me other than my family that still lives in that shithole.

82 while sleeping? WTF! Nah

Entergy would also like everyone to just pay them without providing anything too but reality doesn’t allow that.

In true MrLSU fashion this post is factually incorrect.
Entergt did not say this. Alabama power did. Fox 8 was simply running the report. MrLSU is a perfect example of why getting your news on here is a terrible idea. He’s notorious for just making things up and adding them to his own story.

here’s the original story from WAFB LINK
Anthony Cook with Alabama Power says that rule is based on industry-standards for the way most air conditioners are designed.
Cook said your AC unit will typically lower the temperature in your home about 20 degrees from what the temperature is outside. This means if it’s 100 degrees outside, most homes will only get down to around 80 degrees, WBRC reported.

Entergy did not say it this year, but they did say virtually the same thing two years ago, though they recommended 78 instead of 80.

Yeah but posting an attention grabbing headline with an embedded link without any original thought or content is so engaging.

There is a method to their madness. Utility to utility is the highest rate. They want to sell excess power instead of having to buy someone else's.
But 80 is ridiculous.
