This is the problem with Entergy. They have built up such a large fountain of shite customer service over the years, that no one ever believes they are telling the truth.
this is fact.
wait till they sugarcoat biden's executive orders for reason to triple electricity costs.
actually, they will be telling the truth there

I know a guy with no formal education, high school only who is making $160,000+ a year at Entergy.
Also the lineman are banking $45.00 an hour, with overtime they all make north of $120,000.
Maybe they could cut some pay and pass it to the consumer

If true, hell yeah. My water/sewer alone is $65/mo.

It's usually natural gas that spikes in December.
I wish. I don’t have natural gas and my bill is up about 75% from where it was last year.

Regardless, natural gas is used to make the electricity that comes to your home.

I did find it quite odd my bill went from about $95 to $145 in a matter of months.

rate base by the PSC.
This rate base by the PSC is almost criminal.
If you look at an Entergy Bill it does not state a cost per kWH. It shows as though it is a flat energy charge. The fuel adjustment charge is spelled out per kWH.
Entergy should be more transparent on charges these charges. The energy charge should be a fixed cost per kWH and not fluctuate like the fuel adjustment factor.
Here is the portion of my bill.

Sorry folks total electric here and January was a little cold. So my bill is just under 300.

Whoever is responsible for keeping the service on consistently should be fired immediately.

Just got my bill this morning..This month is $184, last month was $168.
My electric usage decreased by 159 KWH, electric charge was $6.51 lower, fuel cost was $5.06 lower.
Hmm

People weren’t working from home last winter and/or were away from their homes much more often. Spending the holidays at home does this. End of story.
Fewer large gatherings with family, less travel for vacation, less time out to a movie or a bar. Y’all get the idea.
Even something as simple as decorating your house a week or two early can have a big effect. I saw a ton of that this Christmas.
This is a bullshite excuse and you know it. Everyone's bill goes up a little in December. Not nearly 2x the December bill from a year ago.
My house/energy utilization hasn't changed from last year, I don't work from home and my family doesn't spend any more or less time at home now than before. We had more Christmas decorations up this year - enough to raise the bill by $50, not $200.

That is why Entergy should start line itemizing the Energy charge.
It should be based on a fixed cost agreed to you and the PSC.
You can even come up with rate schemes like Texas where you can get Free nights and weekends.
With the new meters there should also have additional tools to break down usage and charge different rates for different time periods just like in the old days of long distance phone calls.

Yeah December was really high and I have a gas furnace and can look at my ac usage on Nest and it's minimal that month. All my lights are led. Gas appliances.
There is a definite issue with December. They did something.

Sure, assuming you live in an area that's serviced by more than one company. Which I don't. So I get Entergy.

I’m not. Those guys are awesome. Most of the Entergy employees in my area are good people.
But I do get frustrated when my electricity goes out for hours on a sunny day without any wind. At least once monthly. May or may not be entirely an Entergy problem, but Louisiana needs to bury a lot of those power lines. Or trim their damn trees.
I also don’t like hidden fees and sketchy billing. Which is an Entergy trademark. Not the fault of the ops guys though.
