Just put this monitor in your car and we'll save you a few bucks on car insurance.

Just put this monitor in your house and we'll save you a few bucks on your utility bill.

No thanks.

Unfortunately it knows if it is connected or not.

Hook it up to a separate window unit that you don't use.

DEMCO had something similar many years ago. It was not as fancy. Technology wasn't far enough along to do it like described in OP.

This one connected to unit and controlled by DEMCO during high usage periods. It shut down power to A/C unit for a short period of time.

I never noticed any difference. It was disconnected by a HVAC tech when I was having some A/C trouble.

I'd do it again however I don't want anyone else controlling my thermostat.

It's a neat idea, but there is no way on earth I would give any authority to control any device in my home, to Entergy, the worst non-public utility company in the country.

100 percent chance this gets screwed up, hacked, etc.

Maybe if we had a decent electric utility, I would consider it.

it says it wont modify by more than 4 degrees. so in the summer if i set it on 68 i'll never go above 72 and in the winter i like it to be 73 so it'll never go below 69? would that work. not like i'm actually gonna do it but its not like they are ever gonna adjust you lower during the summer or higher during the winter

Take no part. This will lead to every blue state forcing you to do this within five years. They will claim it saves the rain forest to keep your house at 82.

The intent is not necessarily to turn off the ac when you are home and hot. How many times have you left the house and forgot to turn the ac up. This is for those situations. This isn’t George Orwell. Entergy is trying to save money for people that aren’t OT ballers that cool off their backyards by leaving the backdoor open.

You do you, but their "smart" meters are catching homes on fire. So there is that.

If you are an Entergy New Orleans residential or small business electric customer with an eligible Sensi™ thermostat like the Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat or the Sensi Touch Wi-Fi Thermostat for cooling, you can earn $25 for enrolling in EasyCool. Plus, you will receive an additional $40 after each season for staying enrolled.

Look this is a great deal because Entergy is only charging you a monthly equipment fee of $80 which offsets the $65 they are paying you. It is a win win for Entergy

$40 a season? LOL

Maybe during spring or fall. No way during summer, but that's when they want to control it.

How about developing more efficient AC units? Or at least make the 21 SEER and up ones more affordable?

When I was younger, we had brown outs one summer in Louisiana because the power companies had to send electricity to New York. They were having a heat wave.

You can imagine how I felt about that.

I would not give anyone the ability to touch my thermostat. I don’t even really like my family being able to touch it.

Pretty sure having it always 4 degrees warmer/colder is gonna cost you more than 40 bucks over 3 months.

It’s just for limited durations for a limited number of times on non holiday weekdays and you can opt out if it happens on a bad time.

There is literally nothing scary here that will cause you to give up control of your AC.

Only point of concern is you’ll get a congressmen thinking this is a brilliant idea and pass a mandate that now requires all new code to comply with a centrally determined directive.
