I got my lady a Lab diamond. It was like 30% cheaper. Took it to a jeweler to do some other work and they appraised it like the value of a true diamond. They couldn’t tell the difference.
You also aren’t supporting blood diamonds doing it this way.

Gal has picked out a really nice moissanite diamond and band for when I pop the question. Gonna set me back about $2500. If I got the same quality diamond, frick, it might cost $10-15k more. So I'm happy with her decision to not be a high maintenance bitch.

I feel like it should be a sacrifice of sorts for the man buying the engagement ring for his future bride (obviously you shouldn't go into debt buying a ring you can't afford though).
It's pathetic when guys who are driving a truck with a 1k monthly note balk at the idea of spending more than a couple thousand on an engagement ring.

The man SHOULD do this part without any direct feedback or involvement from the fiancée to be. This is really his ONLY job in the whole ordeal. If you let her pick out the ring you’re supposed to...then crap, might as well let her write her perfect ‘will you marry me?’ speech.

30 years atom I spent $6500 on a 1 3/4 diamond that was cut to make it appear even wider - more shallow but wide. Anyway, that’s all I got.

Just buy a real diamond from overseas. I bought my wife's from Israel. It's over a carat, and I got it for $1800. I took it to a local jewelry store when it came in, and they appraised it for over $10k.
