Explain that the situation will be reassessed after the holiday season......then cut bait in 2020.

It'd be nice if you have a tangible record of the no shows as well.

I doubt she qualifies for disability yet any ways.

Some people are a book full of excuses that lie and manipulate. They will never ever change. Get rid of them quick. Dont look back.

Hmm. Is she salaried with benefits? If not she's solved half of your problems, right? If she's not showing up she's not getting paid and now you only need to lay off one other person. But I guess that's too easy to be an option...

I worked around a paralegals health issues for years but she started having problems after 10+ years working for me and she always got her work done and I had other paralegals/secretaries to handle any emergencies. I would not have dealt with it in the first month.

Today, her boyfriend messaged me on the company intranet saying she had a seizure and has amnesia. Doesn’t know her name, the year, ect. and the doctor has no time table for return to normalcy. He wants to know if this is cool and if she’ll have her job whenever she gets healthy.

Do you have to pay her while she isn't there?

Have you checked her hiring file to see if this medical condition was disclosed at the time of hiring?

If she intentionally misrepresented herself at the time of hiring most companies can use that as grounds for immediate termination.

Tell him she needs to bring in all of the correct documentation from the doctor on Thursday.

No legit diagnosis, no job.

Two problems here 1) you need an anti-fraternization policy. 2) prepare your anus for a GENA lawsuit after you fire her.

Unless there are some pretty extenuating circumstances, this is an easy decision.

Tell the boyfriend that you will not discuss medical issues or work related problems with him and you look forward to discussing them with her when she has recovered.

Ask him what hospital and where and when can you visit.

If you start getting the run around....well hopefully you can figure it out from there.

If she had seizure then she will have some sort of documentation from her doctor. They need to provide that. You can even offer to have someone come by and pick it up. Have HR check that shite out then go from there.

If she's lying then you know what needs to be done: meet her and the lying b/f at Sonic, whip all sorts of baw arse then fire her on the spot and wish them a Merry Christmas.

Tell him you don’t know who he is and that person has never worked there. Since he can’t remember shouldn’t be a problem
