Why would people not enjoy a free lunch? If your employees are not miserable at their job this should be a slight morale boost to disconnect for a few minutes with your coworkers. If you are negative on getting a free slice of pizza, then you should look for another job.
Would you rather everyone get a $3.50 bonus instead?

on local level it is fine. Such as your manager providing free lunch. Eveyone likes a free lunch.
If it comes from Corporate, its BS and an insult

I don't like to be patronized.
And I am so miserable I usually just go around punching people.

It doesn’t hurt and sometimes can be indicative of companies treating their employees well. Sometimes not.
Pizza parties were awesome in elementary school though. They would use that as a way to make us think going door to door for fundraisers was somehow worth it.

Considering how expensive everything is in the world now, I'd be stupid as frick to complain about free pizza.

Nobody says you have to believe it. I was only there for the free pizza.

They were cool in 5th grade.
And still cool in my 40s
I’ll never turn down a free pie and or beer if available.
Who doesn’t like a damn pizza party? Sheeesh

Some pizza parties are better than others.

Employer: What can we do to improve employee morale and retention rates?
Employees: Offer higher pay, more benefits, and improved work life balance.
Employer: Here are 3 medium pepperoni pizzas from Domino’s once a quarter.
Employees: …….

One of the benefits of working from home full time is you don't ever have to attend any of these.

The fact that the work pizza party/donut party backlash has became a popular meme is the epitome of how spoiled, entitled, and void of logic our society has become. Free lunch/breakfast is a fine gesture that your employer is not required to provide. Many in society today think if they do their job well/adequately they deserve an extra financial reward. You already get that it is called your pay and you knew what it was when you signed on. I can't comprehend the mindset that because your company is doing well you automatically deserve a bonus or raise. It's laughably shortsighted and the thinking of a child. Doing your job is the minimum requirement to get paid at all. If business is poor are you paying back into the company? Any gesture of appreciation should be commended, it wasn't even necessary in the first place.

I've never bought pizza for my operators.
I always ask them what they want.
I usually buy them a meal and a prize.
Here's what I've bought them in the last few years that they said they wanted:
- Tony's Seafood XL box and a custom company hat and shirt
- Grilled hot dogs and burgers on site and a custom company backpack
- Tony's Seafood XL box and a custom company fleece
I've also given away big screen TV, tool sets, custom knives, coolers, etc.. for safety

It’s not the pizza party itself that’s the problem, it’s what they are doing the pizza party in lieu of. Had a record breaking year for the company and all the upper management got bonuses but stretch goals weren’t hit so employees get no bonuses or raises and some may even be let go? Here’s a token pizza party!
People go to work to provide for themselves and their family. I’m willing to bet if a company offered to give every employee $10-20 cash in hand in lieu of a pizza party damn never every one of them would accept it.
The fact that some of y’all think a free slice of pizza or two from Papa John’s is some huge reward shows how out of touch you are and how much of a corporate cuck you are, especially if you work for a massive company.
