Waffle parties are better.

If the employees still get decent compensation and bonuses, pizza parties can be great morale boosters. If they don't get those things, pizza parties can have the opposite effect.

Are you asking if I would rather sit at my desk and work than eat free pizza?

These are plant workers that only receive compensation for the hours that they work.
No bonuses

You sound like a miserable person.

I would say the vast vast vast majority of employees dont mind the kinds of events where they get free food from company.

You just go buy your normal lunch in defiance though, stand strong on whatever you think youre doing.

Free pizza is always sad pizza. The buyer usually goes with cheap, low quality pizza.

I am an adult. Its usually people in HR who plan this stupid shite. If I want pizza, I go get my own pizza and where I want it from. Just continue to deposit money into my account every 2 weeks and we are good.

I’ve only seen one company have a pizza party for their employees.

As a contractor we supported one custom developed application for the Stanford Group in Houston Texas. I would go down every Monday to be on site for support if anything came up.

Normally the office is empty but one Monday all the big wigs were in all the corner offices and they got these massive pizzas from the Galleria food court for the employees.

Literally the next day the SEC raided and seized everything in a massive Ponzi scheme.

So anytime I see a professional place doing a pizza party I immediately think some shite is about to go down.

It depends really. Is it a medium amount of good pizza, or all you can eat of a pretty good pizza ?

It averaged out to be around 2-3 pieces per EE.

Here is how it normally works:
EE'S are told that there is going to be a safety celebration lunch on this date

A bunch of people that you never see show up to the jobsite with pizza

These people stand in front of everyone talking endlessly all while the pizza behind them is getting cold

Pizza is self-served, and the "big shots" stand around watching the EE's eat pizza like they just gave them wagyu steaks.

With plant workers, they would probably just be happy for the extended break for a pizza party. That was my experience when I did plant work.

Most people enjoy free lunch.

Most people do not enjoy free lunch in place of raises, bonuses, ect.

What is your opinion on employee appreciation or safety milestone celebration pizza parties?

It depends. Is the pizza from Pizza by Alfredo or Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe?

Temporary morale booster. As long as it isn't like this...

It is more appreciated when it's for your immediate group and put on by your direct supervisors and/or managers and likely coming out of their pockets.

My company had a hurricane during the week so they brought people.in on sunday but applied sunday to the previous weeks hours to avoid OT. Illegal btw, unless it was a perminant change to the work week.

They used some of the money they saved on paying us to buy everyone a burger, bag of chips, and a can of soda lol
