Yep. I would love to sit down with some brothas, hear some stories, and then be like "okay, here's what I did to get where I am right now." But if I did that I'd be laughed out of the room.

Someone’s clearly not paying attention. No one is being “forced” to listen to Acho.

It’s the same talking points repeated ad nauseum.

No new takes. No trying to understand the other.

Not worth your time

I turned it off when he started using meters to measure the distance between him and girl he ran over while riding his. You can't just casually start using the metric system like that.

I’m not discounting everything this video says, or Acho will say in future videos. A lot of things are subjective perspective that I’m just not in the position to empathize because of my different situation. But in that video, I heard a couple of tropes commonly tossed around as fact that are at best extremely debatable. They deserve a deeper dive into data as opposed to throwing around on the surface level as a basis for your credibility to be able to tell us to shut up and “learn”. Respect the idea overall, but indoctrination from one pre-conceived viewpoint is not education.

Same stuff you hear all the time

None of which delve into the root of the issue.
It’s softball questions.

You want to have REAL conversations? You have to sit down with someone and listen to their real frustrations. Why they think that way. Even if you don’t agree with them. You have to accept that a lifetime of experience, especially with grown folks, has shaped that.
And you have to accept that those are real.

It’s why younger folks often talk in platitudes and regurgitate the shite they are fed. Because they haven’t really experienced those bonding moments in life that make them question what they KNOW.

It can get real uncomfortable. Real heated. Sometimes you have to take a break. But when the chips are down and you are in the shite with someone who is supposed to be your enemy and you let yourself find common ground and really start hearing each other instead of the bullshite those that want to divide us pour in our ears...

Then you can actually get some understanding. Both meet in the middle and accept that we are a product of what we have experienced. And just because we don’t see eye to doesn’t mean we can’t talk man to man.

Honestly, they need to listen some too. But I don't think they are going to like what I have to say.

I can tell you from other social media, black people don’t want to hear about that.

At least he's not provoking people to riot. Communication is not a bad thing.

I'm surprised people in this thread seem mad.

He directly says rioting is bad and gives fair answers to questions. I'm not sure the questions were all that probing, but it's not like they don't get asked.

His question about black on black violence and use of the N word, I've seen those posted on this board.

Most of all, I don't know what's bad about dealing with race issues by making a 9 min video where he comes off as a fairly smart guy who's not saying anything particularly outlandish?
