That’s a pretty good hypo for a criminal law final. And it isn’t half as sick as the facts of the hundreds of criminal cases that we read that were actually true. Criminal law is an eye opening class if you generally think that humanity is good.

I struggle more with engineer clients than uneducated ones because I cannot always give a definite answer how things will work out.

It reads like one of those liberal cuck fanfiction threads on Reddit where they beat up "Nazis" and then everyone claps

And that’s why lawyers make terrible engineers. And . . .

I remember the one where they killed a dude, cut off his junk, and then handed it to a friend in a Popeye’s box for laughs.

Hypo based law school exams aren’t so much about a right or wrong answer. You’re graded on how you spot issues, identify the applicable law learned over the course of the semester, and apply it to the facts within the limited amount of time allowed. Your answer actually ends up being pretty formulaic. The silly hypos like this are just as much to keep you sane as they are a vehicle of loading lots of issues into a single scenario.

This...

And not just law school. When I was at NLU in the late 70s/early 80s, my Econ professor always talked about the supply and demand of pizza and beer among college students and sometimes added mixed drinks and bars as well. 2 of my accounting profs constantly wrote accounting test problems about each other. I wouldn't have thought much about this question's content, if I were a law student. I'd think he was trying to be funny and just answer the question.

People are too soft these days.

When he wrote this he was probably thinking "this will really trigger all those soft arse republicans"

The funniest part is it looks like it triggered a good many

Somebody waste an hour of their time and actually list all the crimes and defenses. Thank you.

Lyle: Obscenity. Possibly adulterating a food. Indecent behavior with juveniles. Uploading porn? Whatever that statute is on transmitting explicit photos without consent.

Moby: Indecent Behavior. Maybe second degree battery (defense of self defense). Maybe false imprisonment.

Quintana: Burglary.

Cops: Escape? Defense is he wasn’t in custody. Some kind of malfeasance?

This is all right out of my arse.

When you see the insane legal arguments that exist any a general acceptance of the legal profession that it’s is normal and that people on the outside just don’t understand, things like this help explain it.

The legal profession, by and large, exists to protect people from the legal profession. It has evolved well beyond its intended purpose.

The general thought by attorneys that, the average person simply doesn’t understand to justify the insanity is the biggest issue.

80s it was pure index admissions.

Most people self selected themselves out by not putting in the work to keep up after deciding it wasn’t for them. Some wanted it and missed the mark. Very sad. Nobody was excluded with a B average.

We started with ~ 400. 250 - 300 after year 1. ~225 graduating on time.

All this may have changed since they went to holistic admissions.

Ask any 3L to go file something at the courthouse or redline a contract. I’d guess most can’t. And the few that can likely learned it from one of their summer internships at a local law firm rather than in the classroom.

This is not new. It is also not the place of a three year education to teach all the rote mundane ins and outs of the practice of law. There are some tier three and unranked law schools that spend a lot of time on this but they are developing a different sort of lawyer. Law schools are there to teach one to think, write, and speak like an attorney if you are smart enough to get through law school you should be able to teach yourself the basic mechanics of practice plus that is the value of clerkships and good secretaries/paralegals when you actually have a real job.

God damn your dumb. It was an example to show how fricked up it was that no matter what 25% failed out. They adjusted grades to make 25% fail out. So if 75% get As and 25% get Bs they are gonna adjust all the grades so 25% fail out. It’s fricking evil, demented, and sadistic. The faculty fed on this blood and fear.

In your own class about 25%. Same as mine years later. Same as all years.

You think it’s just normal statistics that around 25% fail out freshman year every single year? No years have 90, 85, 80%. No years have 65, 60, 50%

You’re a retard and I would whip your arse in front of a jury.

Yeah some fail out legit but the odds are against it every single year to be around 25%. The frickers even said it during orientation. 25% will fail out. Wow, so you mean no matter what the percentage bust their arse and know the material, 25% will be failed? Yup!

That means that some people who went to LSU and failed out would have passed at another law school.

It’s just dead wrong for a law school to do this as spouting that they are teaching people an honorable profession. No. Yall are sick fricks.

frick LSU Law School
