We haven’t been perfect, but these experiences made us stronger, and in our strength, we can set an example.
We have an opportunity to demonstrate that the rules of civil society and discourse have not been abandoned. We do not have to fall victim to divisiveness. Now is not the time to turn away from one another. All are welcomed at LSU. It is time to come together, to let our similarities speak louder than our differences. Respect and disagreement aren’t mutually exclusive concepts.
Be good to one another, and go out into the world and do great things, Tigers.

People will crap all over this and I would normally agree that this PC BS has no place but these days it has to be said.
FWIW, I read this as "feel free to protest but behave or there will be consequences", if I am reading that wrong then let me know.

Gotcha. I'm still confused how Trump pissed off black people. Women, immigrants, Muslims, stockbrokers, economists, NATO enthusiasts, pussies, all those I get, but black people? I think I missed that one.

It's not a bad message but it's completely inappropriate and only validates irrational, nonsensical, viewpoints that should be treated for what they are: illogical, irrational opinions based on fear and conjecture. This kind of shite from a university official only propagates the poor behavior and irrational responses of those who hold those beliefs.

I'm fairly certain I saw somewhere a couple weeks ago that he's the faculty adviser to the LSU chapter of the NAACP which makes a ton of sense.

i really did not like the guy, based on the way Jindal snuck him in. But he has worked hard to keep my alma mater going, despite all the budget hurdles. i really was mad at his intervention in the Miles firing last year. Overall, I'm going to give him a B-.
