Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk lamented the "entitled" and "complacent" character of people in the United States, and lauded the "smart" and "hard working people" of China, in the first installment of a three-part interview with Automotive News' "Daily Drive" podcast published Friday.
quote:
Specifically, Musk criticized New York and California -- states that have supported his businesses, especially Tesla, with considerable tax breaks, regulatory credits and other government help.
quote:
Musk replied: "China rocks in my opinion. The energy in China is great. People there – there's like a lot of smart, hard working people. And they're really -- they're not entitled, they're not complacent, whereas I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and L.A. and New York."
quote:
During the Automotive News podcast, Musk also compared the U.S., California and New York to sports teams about to lose their winning status.
quote:
"When you've been winning for too long you sort of take things for granted. The United States, and especially like California and New York, you've been winning for too long. When you've been winning too long you take things for granted. So, just like some pro sports team they win a championship you know a bunch of times in a row, they get complacent and they start losing."

This is going to be a tough one for the OT. We hate China while also hating Cali and NY. What to do? What to do?

The government will kill you if you don’t work. I like my freedom to be a bum.

Do what they do best - bitch about everything.

I tell you, my friends, listen to Elon Musk. You know, he may know a thing or two. I would not scoff at those who might agree with him.

And China if you decide not to or speak out against them....
But he's right about California and New York

They’re made to work like that by their communist government. I guess your life motivates most people.

This thread has some potential

He's not wrong about the complacency of Americans, but he's off the mark saying China rocks.

Elon is a very smart/crafty guy. He figured a way to have the US government subsidize/fund his work and is making bank while still getting those government subsidies. At the end of the day I don't care what he or anybody else thinks nor supports. Chain can SABoD

We are spoiled rotten pieces of shits in this country.
The Chinese people are more productive than us.

1 - I bet he wants something from the Chinese government, so he's buttering them up.
2 - Musk is decidedly non-woke, so this is his warning against the entitlement mentality so prevalent among woke leftists.

precisely. And there's nothing wrong about the China commment either. Of course they're not complacent - they're fricking fighting to get somewhere in the world under an oppressive regime

Is he saying the Chinese government rocks or the general culture of Chinese people rocks? There’s a major difference there.

I mean he’s not wrong. The average Chinaman works 16 hours a day in a sweatshop or factory while the average American is a lazy white trash/ghetto welfare bum.

Elon is amazing - I’m a total fan boy and default agree with all his tales
