First couple of responses to your X post from Muntean blow it up pretty good:

quote:

You're exaggerating. Since you didn't bother to filter out for 2000 to 5000. If you had zoomed out, you would have seen far more aircrafts in other geographical locations. Also your map is zoomed to 5 NM so that's plenty of space in between everything. So what we're looking at is roughly a 60x80 nautical mile grid. Ok?

I'll spare you the entire exchange, you're probably not intelligent enough to understand it anyway, but the fundamental principal of "Big sky, little airplane" applies. And if air traffic control is such a problem, it would be very easy to put up an ANG control team or even a USN E2C. But this administration simply doesn't care.

It's not only dems at the national level impeeding helicopter rescue and supply efforts. A private helicopter pilot was threatened with arrest by a local fire chiew after dropping off a woman. He was threatened with arrest if he went back to pick up her husband. The couple had been stranded for 2 days after their house collapsed in a land slide.
The city manager was interviewed and her response was pure bs and infuriating. She and the fire chief should be fired for not having enough iq, compassion or reasoning abilities that a retarded chimp would posess.

Why don't some of these people trying to deliver supplies just land their helicopters and and ask for forgiveness later? Maybe some are already doing that. Imagine how big a story it would be if SpaceX personnel were arrested for landing when not authorized and delivering supplies to people in need.

I think the penalty for disobeying the FAA is a lot more than a slap on the wrist.

Not only that, but he had left his copilot son with the man for weight purposes. They threatened he would be arrested if he even when to pick up his son. He ended up picking up his son but had to leave the old man up there alone

Can you provide evidence otherwise?

The $750 is just one of many monetary FEMA relief funds that people can pull from and apply for. It is a relatively new program that is intended to move faster to people and to be for immediate emergency needs. Anyone who pushes the "they only get $750" garbage is either grossly ill-informed or doing it to manipulate people. People are 100% being manipulated and brought to a rage, and the sad thing is they don't care enough to figure out shite for themselves because they're perfectly happy to rage.

It would be different if this same shite didn't happen after the Maui fires or it hadn't already been shot down here multiple times.

And I get called a piece of shite because I won't rage with them.

One form of disaster relief assistance offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) does provide people with $750 to be used for food and essentials. However, disaster victims can also apply for and receive multiple other forms of assistance.

“One type of assistance that is often approved quickly after you apply is Serious Needs Assistance, which is $750 to help pay for essential items like food, water, baby formula, breastfeeding supplies, medication and other emergency supplies,” FEMA says on its rumor response webpage. “There are other forms of assistance that you may qualify to receive once you apply for disaster assistance. As your application continues to be reviewed, you may still receive additional forms of assistance for other needs such as support for temporary housing and home repair costs.”

Serious Needs Assistance was one of two new disaster relief programs FEMA began offering this year after it added new benefits and made it easier for disaster survivors to apply for help. The other new program is Displacement Assistance, which pays for a victim’s hotel or motel stay while they work on their long-term housing plan.

FEMA offers many other programs for disaster relief beyond just these two programs, some of which include Home Repair/Replacement Assistance, Rental Assistance, Personal Property Assistance to repair or replace things like appliances and computers, Medical and Dental Assistance to cover the costs of disaster-related injuries, Funeral Assistance and Child Care Assistance.

People can apply for disaster relief through DisasterAssistance.gov, the FEMA app, a disaster recovery center location or by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362.

On Oct. 4, FEMA announced it has provided $45 million in disaster relief thus far. This includes $23 million to people in Florida, $17 million in housing and other types of assistance to people in North Carolina and $4.5 million to people in South Carolina.

While many on social media are directly comparing disaster relief to foreign aid and immigration spending, FEMA says it’s false that its disaster response funds were diverted to support this other spending. FEMA’s response and its assistance programs are directly funded through the Disaster Relief Fund, which is dedicated entirely to such spending.

I don't think they are as bad as they are being made out to be, but that being said they certainly aren't as good as they are trying to make themselves out to be either.

After Harvey, the advance check for 500 was all that came from fema. Since I had good insurance, no additional help was available . Folks that had losses with no insurance were reimbursed.

If this is true, I'm really surprised there haven't been shootings. Cutting off aide to a place as devasted as this seems like a very dangerous idea.

Many of them probably had their guns and ammunition stores washed away, leaving them with only what they had on them when evacuating.

Yeah I think people are going a bit overboard and blowing some things out of proportion, but I can also easily see the frustrations in the past with FEMA, along with this being a landscape they were probably nowhere near prepared to deal with. It's not like FEMA has a sterling reputation of working with locals, combined with funding allocation issues already happening, and people are probably going to rage first ask questions later.

I know my parents didn't see a dime from FEMA when their house flooded, and they were saved by private individuals taking their own initiative, given safety by a church (not theirs), and lived with friends until they could rebuild.

frick you if you can't take any initiative to try figure shite out. By all means, believe whatever you want. We watched the same tired arse rumors and conspiracies be shot down after the Maui fire. Again, if you refuse to try to figure anything out, frick you.

Just like Glenn Beck saying there has been zero FEMA response? Just like numerous people still claiming the National Guard hasn't been called up? I guess all the videos and shite are just Hollywood creations on a sound stage? Some people are just hopelessly lost.

What has happened, as we've seen with Katrina, Maria, Harvey is that the disaster is to a scale few could imagine even with a perfect forecast.

In 2004 FEMA, together with state and local Emergency Managers conducted a table top drill known as Hurricane Pam. A fictitious slow moving Cat 3 hurricane that would hit New Orleans. A number of shortcomings were identified that later turned out to come true when Hurricane Katrina hit(i.e. Communication failure, medical care for the hurricane victims and transportation issues) Although these issues had been identified, FEMA and the local Emergency Managers had no plans on how to deal with them.
I do not recall hearing abut any other drills since "PAM"
