Got stuck on a elevator for exactly 90 minutes at 4:00am. Called on the buzzer and they told me they will have to call out a maintenance guy. For some reason there was a housekeeping cart in the elevator with me. So, I proceeded to pull 2 huge trash bags off of the roller on the cart and laid them on the floor. I took about a 40 minute nap. LOL

Time flies. Try closer to 20 years for the Houston accident that decapitated the guy.

Years ago, I worked an OSHA case where a guy was severed in half by a malfunctioning elevator.

Escalators are no big deal

Saw an old guy trip and fall down an escalator at a casino. Those little teeth on each step ate him up. The amount of blood and missing tissue was impressive. Not sure he made it. Don't tell me escalators aren't dangerous.

Have you ever been stuck in an elevator

Yes, about 20 years ago, I was stuck in one in midtown Manhattan for about three hours. The NYC Fire Department finally got us out. It sucked.

A friend of mine and I were stuck in an elevator at a condo at the beach. We had an ice chest with some beer. No worries. Could use ice chest as a potty after consumption of beer. Waited about an hour. Good times.

Couldn't you just walk down or up?

There have been multiple deaths on escalators in transit systems on the east coast. People fall down and their clothing gets entangled in the comb teeth causing them to suffocate.

Saw a video from maybe China where the steps can uncoupled and the motor stayed running. Basically ended up with a huge pile of metal steps.

I lived in Germany for 6 years and used to ride on a paternoster, which is an elevator that moved slowly on a loop up and down a shaft. That was nightmare fuel because if you trip I feel like it would cause serious damage.

Not an escalator or elevator issue but back in the early 90s was doing the Royal Gorge gondola ride with my kids when a lightning strike hit the main tower and the car we were in (packed like sardines) abruptly stopped and swung like a pendulum for what seemed like an eternity. Every person in the car went slamming towards the front of the car and started screaming like banshees. There was a couple of kids/parents screaming about dying and the very young but savvy park employee on the ride started yelling back at them to shut up!

I must say it is unnerving to be swinging freestyle above 1000+ feet of empty space. We were closer to the other side as people begged the operator to go back after power was restored. But the car only goes one way. So off we went. Haven’t done that outing since.

Had a meltdown with my 8 year old the other day over escalators. She apparently had never been on one and when she got on to go up, nearly fell. Well, when it came time to go down, she was not gonna do it. I spent 10 minutes trying to coax her to step on it. After the 10 minutes of crying and arguing, I picked her up and placed her on the stair in front of me.

Catching a flight last year, an old man tumbled down the escalator right in front of me at 5am. He flipped head over heels twice. I drug him off the escalator before somebody hit the estop. Kept pressure on his gushing head wound for 40 mins while waiting for ems to arrive.

This

At a DH Holmes for 12 year-old me. Sumbitch stole my right tennis shoe. Got my foot out before it got pulled in too.

It was a down escalator and there were two saleswomen behind the counter at the bottom of it who watched it happen.

One of the them took me up to the shoe department and I picked out a pair of green Converse low tops to replace my shoe.

The shoe wedged good enough when it got down to the bottom of the escalator to actually force it to stop.

I was the shite next week at school with my new dogs.
