I agree with you.

A great effective teacher possesses an enormous amount of skills. I feel I fall into this category based on my effort/determination, expertise on my subject, understanding of psychology, technology, management, relationships, heart/concern/devotion, fairness/integrity/role model, etc.

It is the low threshold of requirements and ease to quit trying you speak of that exhibits most teachers that I’d say have low skill sets, do nothing to help create better individuals, and get paid too much to do nothing except buy their time until retirement.

And I'm sure the universities advertise that students can come there to get an education from those world class scholars. Only to find out that they're spending $20k+ a year for some 23 year old dweeb to flub through a course and have zero idea how to teach students.

Yeah that's fair. Students and parents have rightly complained about that.

Shitty parenting has made it where teachers can't do anything about unruly students because they're afraid to get sued or some shite like that.

If you tolerate your kid being a piece of shite in class, you are a shitty parent.

You know you should be instructing your children on appropriate behavior. That’s part of parenting. You don’t just send your kid to school and expect them to do everything for you and raise your child do you?

Looks like your child just moved to the head of the class. What's the problem? Play their damn game and give your kid a 110 on every assignment (don't forget to assign the 10 point extra credit).

How about calling out the one shitty teacher instead of stereotyping them all?

Stereotypes exist for a reason. Your wife might be the greatest educator to ever walk into th classroom. But most teachers seem to be fat, lazy, self-pitying, slugs with no ambition or incentive beyond garnering sympathy and complaining.

How bout you and your super star wife call out the losers within her profession?

Teaching is a vocation - some are called, some are not

Unfortunately that is not sorted out in undergrad, especially at schools that are degree mills

It’s a toss up as to what your child is going to get.

The email should include a stern warning that the kids will hear from their fathers when they get home!

Elementary school teachers went to college to frick and party, taking the easy road.
They hope to find a husband who's getting a real degree, but they know that they can always fall back on a guaranteed job for life. And then they're just bitter whiny bitches to anyone who doesn't worship them.

It’s funny you think this is an elementary school thing. All teachers do is bitch and complain. COVID only made it worse.

Why can’t they punish kids for bad behavior in class and reward good behavior.

Why can't you teach your own kid to not act like an a-hole when they are in school? Pitiful and lazy parenting.

They're probably tired of everyone telling them how easy their jobs are.

What makes a teacher effective, is what makes all relationships effective, attunment. Attunment creates attachment. Teachers/parents who have attuned and attached kids have much less difficulty with behavioral issues, and do not need to depend on archaic aggressive fear based methods to demand control. The later method may create control, but not an efficient learning environment.

have a hard time believing a teacher put in zeroes and tanked students' grades because she didn't have the time to grade assignments.

My kids’ schools do that as well and I’m in one of the better school districts in LA.

God forbid you actually take time out of your day to be a responsible parent instead of whining about it on an internet board/social media.
