If someone walked into a public place with a M&P 9 Shield in each hand, they could do some damage. Of course not as much as they could with other guns because of the bullets, etc.. But if someone wanted to send a message, target a bunch of people in a public setting to make some type of statement, if they couldn't get a gun, they could just build a bomb with a rice cooker.

I’m taking about a background check in order to purchase a gun.
Just like you have to pass a class to conceal carry, just like you have to take a hunter safety course to get a hunting license

It sounds wonderful in theory. Absolutely impossible in practice.
What mental disorders should be on the “no gun” list?
Mental disorder is a spectrum and affects everyone differently. Just because someone is depressed doesn’t mean they’re going to shoot up a mall. Same with schizophrenia, etc.
who decides if the person is well enough?
What is the route to appeal?
How long does said ban last?
Would punishing people for seeking treatment for mental health issues have a detrimental effect on having people seek out help?
Will there be an inherent bias amongst those who have the power to place a ban?

People seem to confuse Psychiatrists (doctors) with Psychics (sham fortunetellers that prey on the gullible). They are not the same.
